Dance club, not quite. Just party club The Place: The Club is quite nice, medium/large size and tastefully decorated. The sound and light system is probably the best feature of the place and is top of the line. The place has secondary room called Odyssey which I only found out later by reading of it. It is said to be the place to enjoy more underground vibes. The night I went the place was overcrowded and going around was too much of a struggle. The club does not have a dance floor. The large area in front of the DJ is packed tightly with tables big enough to hold drinks and the ubiquitous vodka like booze with LED light under it. There isn’t much dancing going on and the priority here seems binging the night away enjoying the visuals, the boom and the buzz. The club is only opened till 2 AM which is way too early for a worldly venue and the apparently best ranking club of a capital. The People: 98% young Thais of the richer kind (it is definitely pricey here). The place is loaded with gorgeous Thai girls partying away in small groups. A joy to see. The odd farang and non Thai Asian are seen now and then. The Music: the Friday night featured supposedly acclaimed guest DJ Alan Walker at the hefty entrance fee of 900 Bhat/each, no drinks. The music was very commercial mainstream EDM unsuitable for anyone older than 25 and in retrospective a total waste of money. The music is a sad result of globalization and is engineered to appeal only to global young crowds with little knowledge of music with any artistic undertones. It is music turned into McDonald, the same stuff everywhere. The inhouse DJs before the show did mix better, more original and edgy vibes. Other days of the week probably offer a better experience with no overcrowding and better, unpretentious music. The Drinks: If you have a refined palate for good quality drinks this is not the place to go. However, unlike most other clubs in Thailand Onyx does not serve horrendous refinery grade spirits like Hong Thongs or Gilbeys, yet it does not get any better than Bacardi or similar entry level quality. For 450 Bhat you get the usual cocktails made in a fancy way to impress but with little substance. The dose of spirit is 1.5 measuring cup so it is better than most clubs. Due to the prices of the “better drinks” above most people go for “club grade” vodka bottles for 3700 Bhat. For sure the best bang for the buck to get a sizeable party drunk. Hang over does not seem to worry the...
Read moreOk I will explain this story as best I can. and pls everyone guy should consider before coming here and be careful. The first me and my mate went to ONYX from rcm from taxi drivers. So us choose Onyx for the last night in BK and we very excited. We ok about 400 baht for tickets + get 1 drink. But we want buy bottles whiskey or Jagermeister. So i ask reception guy about us buy bottel wine and get back 400 baht for 1 person. And yes I’m clearly with them and always Thai translation for them understand and deal. So we go inside and choose Jagermeister Bottel in menu is 2800 baht and this dramma happen. The women bring us come to table and ask us want buy more water or soda. Us choose coca and i ask 4 coca. And them bring the paper side jagermeister 3700 baht without coca. Us ask them why u charge we than more 900 baht ? You need to explain for us know that. And the women confused and text someone to ask. She leave and another guy come to explain 900 is add fee ? So i asl now u don’t notice to we know and want we pay ? So after that you keep us and ask us pay more 1000 or 2000 baht for VTA or breathe air right? And they running away then return and give us 1200 baht from buy tickets. And them women with the attitude of a caught liar (grumpy) and did not explain or speak in English. We have to use translation application Thai so annoying. And of coiuThey still want us pay 3700 baht without explain clearly. Then the women say 900 baht for 5 coca 🤣…. Ahahahahahahahaha this time we know operate the game. So we rather lose 1200 baht on the entrance ticket and leave than pay extra for this funny game. We were sober, not drunk or stupid, If you are greedy, I don't blame you cause everyone is greedy. But use your brain to think and learn how to make money properly ! We know these scams too well and boring, and Onyx u guy don't think that all tourists are stupid and compromise to give...
Read moreStaff was so pushy and rude. At the counter we were browsing at the menu to see what package we wanted to take since there were 4 of us. The man who was assisting us just flipped through and showed us the entry of 400 baht per person, assuming we would take that since it’s the cheapest option. We asked him to hold on and not to hurry us up, We eventually took the bottle service which costed about 4000 baht in total and included entry for upto 5 people. The attitude of this man changed immediately and become welcoming towards us. Then while going through the security check (men and women separately) my husband stopped ahead to wait for me, the security person yelled at him and asked him to move forward. Mind you there was no cue behind and no one else waiting to move ahead. The music could also have been better, or maybe it was the overall experience to start with that ruined our night. Not a place I would recommend. Maybe us being Indian was the reason for this kind of behaviour from staff, in that case it should definitely be avoided by all Indians...
