Now I understand why it's the no 1 buffet in Bangkok. The basic option thb499 is already so much food and luckily we did not take the premium thb799 one. The big head river is at the tank just next to you and you will claw the jumping prawn before dumping them into the ice buckets provided before you bbq them. Caution not to bbq them direct from the tank as they will jump off the stove n it will be messy. There are tanks of fresh crab also and should get them first, as they are not refilled. For thb49, you get unlimited soft n fruit drinks. There is no ++ and the bill is thb499 add 49 for drinks. The food is all fresh and after a day of eating, stomach ok. There are raw marinated mantis shrimp which is a must try. Bbq the horseshoe crab till you hear popping sound (which is the roe explodng), and eat only the roe. it's recommended to overcook the horseshoe crab as they can be toxic if undercook. Other nice food include oysters, bbq meat, sushi, shisamo, at least 4 different kinds of crabs, and many more. It opens at 5pm and you should be there at 430pm to take a number, to ensure you get the seats Queue forms early. If you missed the first batch, be warned that u gotta wait a long while, as there is NO time limit for the bbq. And there are people who eats until it closes. (I ate for 3 hrs). Alcohol is not worth as big bottle LEO beer cost a stunning thb320. Strange, still got people drink. Service also very good n systematic and u have free ice water while waiting for restaurant to open. Staff comes frequently top up the river big head prawn into tank and also clear your table. One of best buffet I have eaten

No hotpot for boiling seafood. You can ask the staff to change the charcoal when the heat is too low. - - - FOOD SELECTION Food available for 499 Baht: - Selection of raw seafood for grilling - Live crabs and prawns also available for grilling - Marinated raw salmon, peeled prawns and crabs for raw consumption - Selection of cooked food available There are tanks with live crabs and prawns next to the tables. You can use a tong to pick them up and grill them on your table. The crabs were small and did not contain a lot of meat. - - - DINING ENVIRONMENT Open air. Not air-conditioned. With the charcoal grill on the table, it can be quite warm. There may be quite a bit of smoke when you grill food. If you are not used to the heat and smoke, you may feel uncomfortable and your dining experience may not be enjoyable. If you don't like getting your hands dirty (de-shelling the prawns and other seafood), this place is not for you. - - - TASTE The seafood looked fresh. Maybe because they are fresh water seafood (that is, not from salt-water), they tasted bland without dipping sauce. Even the live prawns were bland. The cooked food were average. Recommend you get the dipping sauces (from inside - near the sashimi section). - - - BEST TIME TO ARRIVE The restaurant opens at 5pm but there was a queue about 30 minutes before 5pm. A queue number is given to each group customers. When the restaurant opens, the staff will call each number in sequence to sit them at a table. When we were eating, there was a long queue of customers sitting outside patiently waiting for their turn, as the restaurant was full. The wait can be 1 hour or longer. Recommend to arrive before 5pm. - - - PAYMENT Pay when you are ready to leave. Ask for any staff to settle your bill. Cash and electronic transfer payment available. Credit card payment incurs additional 3% surcharge.

Still on our 3 week seafood safari of Bangkok. Kodtalay was an awesome experience. Arrive early to get a ticket then wait to be called from 5pm. We arrived at 4.30pm when there were less than 20 people who already had a ticket. You can also book a table online. We left at 7.15pm and there were about 80 people waiting to get in. You can choose from a 499B or 799B buffet (see photos for menus). We went for the 799B, but upon reflection, for us personally, the 499B one was more than enough. The premium menu selections are in addition to all you already get for 499B. There was an extraordinary range of food for you to BBQ, as well as many other dishes already prepared. You can even choose your own live river prawns from an aquarium alongside your table, and BBQ then. We had too much to list it all, but focussed on seafood such as crab, oysters, baby octopus, mussels and clams, etc,etc,etc. It was all beautifully fresh and tasty. There is also excellent sushi, dessert, soft drinks (beer available at extra cost), and much more. A very Thai experience. The service was excellent too. We have no hesitation in recommending this, especially if you are into authentic Thai experiences.

A place to enjoy abundant of seafoods at affordable prices. The location is just 5-7 minutes walks from Udom Suk BTS Station. Live shrimps and crabs are available in clear fiber tanks. Barbecue is the most preferable and you can order soup base for hot pot as well. If you order premium buffet package at 799 Baht, premium sushi with wagyu beef, beef steak, Omakase Sashimi Premium Set, deep fried sea bass, raw oyster, pineapple fried rices and Thai mango with sticky rise dessert are must-try menu. Beer is also available, however, not included in buffet package and you will have to pay addition. Atmosphere is rather noisy due to crowed customers. The heat from barbecue pit will make you rather uncomfortable even though fans are running. In weekends days, more crowded to have to queue and waiting time from 30 min to even an hour, sometimes. Parking is available however it is almost occupied in most of times. In overall, Kodtalay Seafood Buffet is a must-try seafood buffet near Udom Suk area and Bang Na junction.

UPDATE: Admitted to the ER the next day. Don’t go there. I can’t stress this enough Honestly, this place would be wonderful if they weren’t such suck ups to people on TV. It’s not just me, please sort by lowest. Major advisory: THERES NO AIR CONDITIONING TV crew arrived to film something, and they starved people, didn’t give them anything, just so they could get a couple minutes worth of footage. Completely ridiculous. Ventilation was horrible too, there is smoke everywhere, and it gets really hot and hard to breathe when it’s crowded. Everything else was really good, really affordable too. this is disappointing. Thailand’s No. 1 restaurant? I’d rather not come to thailand then. At least there was a cat though. Food: 1 Atmosphere: 1.5 Service: 1 Would recommend? Only if you’re fine with tons of smoke, lots of people, and dirty surroundings

Arrived on a weekday at 8pm and was shocked by the crowd. Been past a few times in the past and it was never this packed. At least 40% of their patrons are Chinese. Went for the regular buffet which at first seemed like pretty good value. Assorted crabs were NOT fresh but i had sort of anticipated that already. About 6 varieties. We shared one of each and didnt go for more. Sea prawns were fresh but didn't manage to get more servings as the competition was fierce amongst customers 😅 Fresh water prawns were smallish but fresh. Pickled seafood was tasty enough at this price level. Hot foods were below average. Loved the Ete ice cream which is one of my favourite local brands. Won't be back though as it was overflowing with hungry tourists and that's not really my vibe.
