Solid burgers. We sometimes go here if we want a decent burger. Today I was passing by and thought I'd grab a bite to eat while I was in the area. Again... good food, solid burger, and if you eat in the store (as opposed to ordering) the fries are pretty tasty, too.
This is more for the owner/management than the customers who want to eat here, although it's relevant for everyone involved. Today, I wanted to order the Texas BBQ burger, but I hate BBQ sauce on a burger (personal preference). I asked the server (in Thai) to leave off the BBQ sauce and to put mayo on instead. He said that I can't order that, and I asked him why. He said, "You can't change the sauces". I asked, again in Thai, "Do you have mayo?", he said "Yes". I said, "Simply use mayo instead of bbq sauce." He said, "We cannot". So I simply said, "ไม่เป็นไร/Nevermind" and went out for Thai food.
First of all, the refusal to use mayo and not bbq sauce is just silly and makes no sense. The restaurant loses no money in that substitution, but it loses a customer when they make such an arbitrary and strange refusal. It just doesn't make sense.
Secondly, the food here is quite expensive and the customer already pays a premium for the food. I don't believe that the customer is always right in every case, but he definitely is in this one. There were no other customers in the restaurant and it looked like they could've used a bit of business.
Finally, this isn't the first time this has happened. I personally tend to only leave positive reviews of places unless it consistently disappoints (everyone has a bad day sometimes, every restaurant has a bad service once in awhile). I generally try to be gracious and make the restaurant prove that they don't want my money. The message that Bulldog Burgers has consistently sent is: "You will pay a premium price for the food, but we'll give you just OK service"
Again, pretty good food and fairly high prices with OK service as long as you don't ask for any substitutions (whether reasonable or not). There are other burgers in the area next time I get the urge.
Also, just to respond to the response below...no language barrier, that wasn't the problem. I just asked for no bbq sauce. I definitely wasn't aware of any "sauce policy" (555), I just wanted to eat the expensive burger the way I wanted to eat it. Oh...

I first visited this burger joint after seeing a glowing review from Mark Wiens, and it completely lived up to the hype. The dry-aged Wagyu burger was phenomenal—perfectly grilled, packed with rich umami flavor, and incredibly juicy. The brioche bun was soft yet sturdy, the cheddar cheese melted beautifully, and the smoky, tangy sauce tied everything together. Even the fries were golden, crispy, and seasoned just right. That night, I walked away thinking, this is one of the best burgers I’ve ever had—easily a 9/10.
Then I Came Back…
I ordered the exact same burger, expecting another amazing experience. It looked just as good as before—glossy brioche bun, well-seared patty, perfectly melted cheese. But the moment I took a bite… crunch.
Something was off.
Instead of that smooth, tender Wagyu texture, I bit down on something hard. Then again. And again. Small pieces of soft bone were scattered throughout the patty, completely ruining the experience. I had to pick them out with my fingers, and honestly, it was disgusting.
And here’s another thing I noticed—the burger buns aren’t homemade.
I visited this place around 11 AM, just as they opened, and I saw them bringing in stacks of burger buns wrapped in plastic, bundled together. This confirmed that their buns aren’t freshly baked in-house but rather factory-made to order. Not necessarily a dealbreaker, but it was surprising given how much effort they put into their branding.
Pros:
✅ Great atmosphere ✅ Convenient location (near Bang Na–Chonburi Road) ✅ High-quality ingredients (when prepared properly)
Cons:
❌ Inconsistent quality (soft bone in the patty ruined the experience) ❌ Buns are not homemade (they use factory-made buns) ❌ No longer reliable
I dropped my rating from 9/10 to 5/10 because food quality should be consistent. I want to love this place, but I can’t trust that my next burger won’t have the same issue. Would I come back? Maybe. But only if they fix this serious problem—because the worst thing a burger place can serve is...
Read moreIt’s was craving for a burger for a few days, so here we are. A top rated place, so expectations are set.
From the moment you arrive you can feel this is a slightly edgy place with character. When you know your craft, you don’t need to pretend with fanfare.
So we dug right in; burger, patties on the side, a craft beer to wash it down.
I went for the Route 66, medium rare (although that should be the only way a burger is ever cooked). Verdict; top notch burger. Very nice bouncy brioche bun, that doesn’t turn soggy so fast. And this a perfect thing because the wagyu (smashed) patties are as juicy as they can get. Be ready to get your face and hands wet.
Nice stack, and layering with Gouda cheese and gerkins. Also a nice special sauce.
For the side patties, the lamb one was crispy and tasty. Not the typical gamey taste at all. Well done.
The pork one, nice denser texture and good flavour profile. So these are not patty options to feel shy about! All winners.
Why I gave 4 stars for atmosphere: I’m Belgian. I don’t like my craft beer from a can as much as from a tap. So when I am sinking my teeth in a top burger, a canned craft is a bit of a letdown. Good beer, and a nice selection. Yet, artisanship in a place like this should extend across all crafts.
Will I be back? Definitely! Highly...
