Huan Soontaree — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

The menu is built mainly around traditional North Thai food, but has mixes of middle Thai, Essarn, and Chinese influences within as well. Try the bone-less Murrel fish with their secret seafood sauce. The cocktails are outstanding here, try the Lychee Mojito or the Passion fruit martini, so yummy! The desserts are out of this world, try the mango and sticky rice or the durian and sticky rice with coconut milk. The decor of the place is very traditional northern Thai with giant stunning lanterns hanging from the ceiling. It has mixed elements of nature along with classic Thai decor and has a stunning riverside garden which is perfect for the winter period in Chiang Mai. The prices are mid-range and good value for the experience. As it is quite a high-end Thai restaurant, but the prices are rather mid-ranged which is great. There is live Northern Thai folk music played every night which is cute and relaxing.

Included in Michelin guide, this local restaurant, established by the renowned thai-classic songstress who my mom and some of my relatives have been long-admired was, no doubt, one of the must-try for everyone that’s looking for northern thai traditional food. Lanna decorative style profoundly uplifted the eating experience along with the live band that played those familiar fascinating songs from 80’s and 90’s we’ve all loved. Our big family drastically enjoyed every food that some of us attempted to order as many dishes as possible. Good taste with reasonable price - how could we not eat too much? 😂

Great food and great service Authentic northern-Thai food with nice presentation แกงฮังเล (curry) taste really nice and aromatic แคปหมู (pork rind) is not too hard and not soggy great paring with the chillies that come with The fried fish is also really good, I never seen this dish before. There's no bone (It's like a stuffed fish) Although I missed the singing because I came too early, I have met the owner and the singer from the 80s famous Thai northern folk song duo.
