Recently I made my fourth and final visit to My Kitchen on the Chiang Mai – Lamphun Road. Immediately afterward I wrote a review based on that terrible experience. This review was fueled by vitriol and driven by anger, and was, therefore, neither fair nor accurate. The next day I withdrew that review. After taking the time to calm down and reflect, I am submitting this review, which is both entirely fair and completely accurate and is based on the rude, disrespectful and unwelcoming treatment I received from Monsieur Odieux, the Frenchman who operates My Kitchen. This horrible treatment is the reason for my one-star review.
During my previous three visits, I was an excellent customer, always ordering two dishes and paying more than 400 baht. Each time I left the staff a generous tip. I went by myself and didn’t make any noise or bother the other customers. But for some unknown reason, Monsieur had developed a profound hatred of me. Pourquoi, Monsieur? Why, Sir? Pourquoi me détestes-tu autant? Why do you hate me so much?
In his reply to my original review, Monsieur said that because I did not confront him at the time, that I do not have any balls. Mais non, mon cher ami, my balls are functioning within established parameters for a man of my advanced age. Due to a serious heart condition, called atrial fibrillation, I must avoid any confrontation. The adrenaline release triggered by a physical confrontation could cause a fatal stroke or heart attack. That is why I left My Kitchen as quickly as possible, never to return. The status of my balls is completely irrelevant, although I do greatly appreciate your interest in them.
When I entered the restaurant on my final visit, every table was empty. I moved toward the small, two-person table near the restroom, or hong-nam, where I sat each time before. Monsieur said that it was already booked. So I asked about the other tables, and he said that they were also booked and that I would have to eat outside. This proved to be a despicable and wretched lie.
Eating outside was like dining in the fires of Hell. The temperature was about 40 degrees, and flies swarmed constantly around my food and body. There is only one small fan, and it is set far above and far away from the tables. It was, without a doubt, one of the very worst dining experiences of my entire life.
When I went inside the restaurant to pay, I saw that the small table near the restroom was still empty, as it was when I arrived. It was crystal clear that Monsieur Odieux had lied when he said it was booked and that he no longer wanted my business or my money. He fulfilled his desire by forcing me to eat in the hellish conditions outside. Congratulations, Monsieur, you have lost an excellent and well-paying customer.
If you wish to file suit against me for defamation resulting from the submission of this honest and forthright review, then please go right ahead. I will counter sue you for defamation, libel, slander, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. You see, mon cher ami, I am retired with nothing but free time and lots of money in the bank. How about you? Do you really have the time and money to spend going to court? If so, I will see you there. It is an absolute certainty that I will never see you at My...
Read moreBeen coming to My Kitchen for almost 4 years now. Never been disappointed. Always delivered good portions of high quality food with great service at an excellent price. Unrivaled in Chiang Mai for value.
Tonight my wife and I went for dinner, settling on the Daily Special of Beef Fondue at THB 200 pp. We were served with large portions of tender beef, a fresh and tasty salad and numerous sauces to accompany the fondue.
Whilst they serve wine and beer, we elected to take our own bottle of red wine for which we were happy to pay a very reasonable THB 150 corkage charge.
The beef was extremely tender and succulent and in ample quality in that we took almost 1/2 home.
Service was superb.
As it was raining hard we were happy to enjoy our time spent there and followed up with an excellent selection of French cheeses on the daily cheeseboard.
What more could we want ? Great food, good service, nice wine in an excellent setting.
Thank...
Read moreAs an almost vegetarian :). I may not be the best reviewer. However, I wanted to at least state that on Friday they don’t do salads, which they offer on their regular menu, but they made an exception and made me a lovely salad with grilled chicken. Huge portion and fresh veggies. (Too many onions and tomatoes) IMHO. The salad was good and their dressing was very good; I normally don’t like most salad dressing (I dislike mayonnaise based ones). The grilled chicken was cooked perfectly and Was moist and tasted fresh! My friends do love this place. The prices are very good too. Oh yeah, the deserts are awesome!
The odd thing is my friend called and ordered ahead of time 4 specials and a salad... No air conditioning and parking not that great, thus the...
