Thank you Sipolle for providing our family with a wonderful Sunday evening night together. We came early as you open at 5pm and enjoyed several appetizers before our main meal. The crab salad is a favorite of my son. The caesar salad was my starter although it came on the other end of our meal ? I am fine with that yet salads always come first or no later than after finishing appetizers. The garlic cheese toast was great and 6 pcs is a more than ample serving . We shared several pasta dishes, a pizza for my grandson, a trio of well prepared lamb chops complemented nicely with mint jelly and a red wine sauce. My accompaniment of roasted potatoes were fine and I appreciate the server allowing my substitution of more potatoes while dismissing the sauteed spinach. I am certain to be forgetting something yet I hope the photo shares will more than adequately show our meal in its entirety. The environment is clean and with an understated elegance. The service re : correct delivery of what one orders, timely delivery, plate removal, water glass topping off, etc. was fine.I only wish the service staff would engage in a bit of chatter, inquire as to whether we are enjoying our dishes and even suggest appropriate wine pair ups with the meals we ordered. By not doing so Sipolle is leaving a lot of money on the table ? Finally, after 100% satisfaction with every dish we indulged in two desserts and one takeaway. The Lava cake vanished and the remark came " this is the best I have had " from my nearly 8 year old grandson. The apple tarte w/ vanilla was fabulous, fresh, flavorful and warmed . We took away a Tiramisu and it was devoured at home upon arrival. Parking may be ify after dark along the road. The restaurant does not appear to be open at first glance from the outside so it becomes easy to drive by. At the very rear of the restaurant is a refrigerated wine/ champagne case. Red wines do not need refrigeration ? There is a side banquet room/ private party space which may seat 20 or so guests, an ideal place for family, best of friends, co- workers, couples, etc. Thanks once again, there is no question I will be back and of course my son and his bride are regulars coming to Sipolle...
Read moreSipolle is an excellent example of quality Italian food in Chiang Mai. It's out of the way, but the trip is worth it.
The food is excellent. We started with the burrata and parma ham. The cheese was terrific, but a few slices of the ham were a bit too thick. Still, it was good value. The fresh lobster was the highlight of the evening, and while it was expensive, the dish was big enough to share. And the lobster was excellent. We also had the seafood risotto, which was very good, with generous portions of seafood. The chocolate lava cake for dessert was almost too much... but we struggled through it :).
Prices were expensive, but good value for a special occasion. The prices are modest if you stay on the 'regular' menu.
The service is excellent, and the staff is well-trained and ready to look after you. The head waiter makes his rounds unobtrusively and ensures everything is running smoothly.
The atmosphere was okay, but no drapes or sound baffles were around, so the space was a bit echoey. The music was pleasant but a bit too soft for the space. Also, the lighting could use some improvement. It was too harsh for the high-quality space the restaurant was going for.
Finally, the wine list is excellent. If you want a red, there is a wide range on offer. However, the white wine offerings are minimal. I'd like to see a few premium whites on offer.
Still, Sipolle is an excellent find for us, and we will build it into our regular rotation of local...
Read moreToday, I had the opportunity to visit the restaurant after making an advance reservation over the phone. However, upon arrival, I was seated outside. While I understood that the restaurant was particularly busy at the time, the real issue was the clear shortage of staff, which resulted in us waiting over 20 minutes just to place an order. Every staff member who passed by simply said, “Please wait a moment,” but no one actually came to take our order — even after nearly 30 minutes had passed, no staff member paid any real attention to us.
This experience reflected a serious lack of management and readiness within the restaurant, and it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever encountered.
If the restaurant is aware that they cannot handle the volume of customers, they should properly assess the situation and temporarily stop accepting reservations or walk-ins, rather than allowing customers to sit and wait without any service.
As a regular customer, I must honestly say that I was extremely disappointed by the unprofessional management today. If the restaurant is this unprepared, it should not be accepting customers at all to avoid creating such a terrible experience, which felt as though the restaurant had never managed customer service...
