Very popular (and overrated) restaurant in Chiang Rai. The atmosphere is nice. The place is obviously a long-established institution. There are photos of dozens of high-profile Thai celebrities visiting the restaurant on the walls, and the place is well-frequented. The service is good and the prices are (relatively) low. That being said-the food is mediocre at best. 😒 Hors d’oeuvre Northern style should be top-notch in a place like this. But the veggies were boiled and left laying around way too long and didn’t taste good any more. The northern sausage wasn’t nearly as good as the one you get on the local markets here. It should be filled with plenty of herbs, spices, and meat. Instead, this one was made mostly of fat, with not enough meat and not enough herbs and spices. Very boring taste, and typical when they try to lower the costs by using cheap ingredients. The local curries were all disappointing as well, and you can get more flavorful versions of these everywhere in Chiang Rai. Very much on the oily side, either to sweet, too sour, or too salty. Kinda carelessly prepared, without paying attention to detail or weighing the flavors. The wild-boar curry (a dish that I usually love to eat was a joke. The wild boar they used here was mostly the fatty, chewy skin of wild boars, instead of the meat. It’s normal to mix both, but this was made with almost no meat at all. Again, that probably explains the relatively low price in a restaurant like this, but I’d rather pay a bit more and get a meal I can enjoy. Had three spoons of this dish and left the rest untouched. I wish I could rate this place better because atmosphere and service were nice, but the food was really bad. We paid our 900 baht bill and left still hungry (because we didn’t finish most meals), and went to have a 250 baht dinner at another local place in town that was much...

So going to make the easy, the food is just ok. Traditional Thai food with northern that style as well. Which that is jot the real issue.
Parking from what I got is just side on the street, which all the seating for this place I hope we are wrong on this, and there is more parking else where. Which thank you for anyone helping us out really park, and proceed to make comments about how we were parking. Or at least that what I was told by family members.
Tons of employees sitting around making sure others tables drinks are filled, but not ours. That’s pretty bad service, especially when I think I see an employee chewing on her finger nails? She’s a server I hope she remembers to wash her hands after doing that before serving the next guest.
Also being sat in the sun, where everyone else had nice shaded spots was a real nice treat as well.
Plus if you check through my other reviews I am really easy going, and even places that get harsh reviews from others I find always seem to be wrong. But I can’t do it here, I see a lot of other good reviews, and hope this was just one of those one times with my...
