Mekka Jerk — Restaurant in Choeng Thale

We had high hopes and were genuinely looking forward to enjoying a meal with authentic Caribbean flavors. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations.

The service was extremely slow and disorganized. Portions of our meal were served with a 20-30 minute delay between items, making it impossible to enjoy the food properly. Even more concerning, we were informed an hour after ordering and receiving part of the meal that there was no rice available for my dish—leaving me with just the chicken, which had already gone cold by then.

The staff appeared confused and unsure of their roles, which only added to the chaos. Shockingly, the restaurant also ran out of water during our visit.

To make matters worse, the food lacked the rich, bold flavors we associate with Caribbean cuisine. It was disappointingly bland and did not reflect the authenticity we were hoping for.

What an absolute disappointment! This restaurant was a complete disaster. The food was awful: the chicken was burnt, the rice was dry, and completely tasteless—how do you even make rice that bland? As if that wasn’t bad enough, the burger looked nothing like the photo. Instead of juicy minced meat, I was served a tasteless piece of meat that resembled a shoe sole more than a burger.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was just as bad as the food. The restaurant was empty, which already says a lot, and there was trash everywhere. The hygiene was unacceptable—definitely not what you expect from a dining establishment.

I recently stubbled across this restaurant whilst visiting Thailand and It was such a lovely experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with the irresistible aroma of jerk seasoning. The ambience was inviting, and the staff were attentive and friendly. I ordered the signature, jerk chicken dish and it exceeded my expectations.
