I’ve been here before, and while the views were tremendously nice and the iced latte didn’t disappoint, I had noted a few hiccups — like the confusing exchange about the coconut coffee and the ambiguous reaction from a waiter when we mentioned hiking uphill to get there. As I said back then, clarity in communication goes a long way.

This time, however, things took a turn for the better.

The service has definitely improved. A particular waitress stood out — not only did she greet us with warmth, but she genuinely cared about our comfort. She and her colleague brought over two fans to cool us down and even offered a seat indoors with air-conditioning, a thoughtful gesture that didn’t go unnoticed.

The food presentation? Visibly elevated. Plates were well-composed and inviting, as though crafted for both the palate and the camera. And the stir-fried basil — a revelation. Bold, aromatic, and perfectly balanced in spice and umami, it delivered on all fronts. If I may say so, it’s the kind of dish that would impress even the most discerning chef: heat that lingers, flavours that layer, and every bite as intentional as the last.

The setting remains as clean and cozy as ever, but now it feels warmer — not just in ambiance, but in service too.

BannRai is on top of the world. Located just before Kamala town,  a turn off along the main road up on a steep climb leads you to this restaurant.

Car parking was easy n free.  The view was magnificent.  We arrived around 5.30pm and stayed till 6.30 on for the sunset.

Service was good,  young staff n enthusiastic.

We sat on the lowest patio as the higher levels were fully occupied.  Staff had to climb up and down numerous steps to serve us.

We ordered a bottle of white wine, 2 coffee with small bites.

Price is not the cheapest here but the place definitely projected an image that deserves this price level. If you are in Kamala and tired of the sea,  try this place,  you won't be...

My partner took me here as a surprise and I was certainly surprised by the atmosphere. One of the nicest places I’ve been to in Phuket, amazing view and even better food. I had the Chicken Steak with herbs & cheese which was the best chicken I’ve ever tasted. Their Butter Beer (which obviously reminded me of Harry Potter) tasted exactly as I had imagined and quickly ordered another!

The view was breathtaking, looking out over lush jungle and the beach below. Every level had its own charm and I can only imagine how cozy it will feel once the sun has set.
