Gài Yâang Rá Bìiap (grilled chicken and som tum) — Restaurant in Khon Kaen Province

For years this place has had the reputation of making the best gai yang (North Eastern style barbecue chicken). I've certainly never tasted better but there might be one or two places that are nearly equal. Gai yang can run out at lunch time.

Their other Isan food - somtam, laab (including duck), sausage and sticky rice are just as good so you won't be disappointed if you have missed the chicken that day. The chicken is a Thai breed skinny bird. The Roadrunner, not Foghorn Leghorn 😂

Wonderful chicken, especially the way in which they cook it (indirect heat, stays very juicy). The only downside here is the busy lunchtime rush, located across from several government buildings, its sometimes impossible to even sit down if you come between 11am and 1pm.

Laap is great here, as well as the fish. Pretty good dipping...
