Kaen Ground — Restaurant in Khon Kaen Province

It took me a few weeks before I got up the courage to actually go into this coffee shop, it looked quite intimidating. I did eventually go in, (when I saw where the entrance door was, this was a part of why it was intimidating, I fully expected to be trying to enter through a window by mistake)and was greeted by a couple of uniformed greeters/waiting staff, and was ushered to the counter about a metre from where I was standing. I ordered an espresso which was then shown to me in the menu, 60฿, which is around the normal price for an espresso in Khon Kaen. I inquired about the price of a double shot and was told that it was 90฿, I declined.

The staff, of which there were many were all helpful and friendly. I got my espresso in an Americano sized cup and was given the bill...it wasn't 60฿ anymore. With service and tax it had risen to 70.62฿. Hidden charges.....

I looked at the very very expensive cakes and pastries under the glass cloches and in the display cabinet and realised at that point this would be my first and only visit to Kaen Ground...unless I win the lottery that is, but even then....

If you are anywhere near this area would absolutely recommend stopping by Kaen Ground. They serve local roasts as well as delicious tea and the standard café fare. Their bakery is amazing and the drip coffee is some of the best I’ve ever had and they also have unique blends (coffee with rose, matcha with yuzu). Will definitely be stopping by anytime I’m in the area - highly recommend even if you are not staying at the hotel as it’s easily accessible from the ground floor. A little bit pricy compare with the taste. Their drink is just ok not bad but the strawberry danish is undercooked (flour inside). All of their dessert in the shelve were beautiful.
