Locals Smoked Texas BBQ — Restaurant in Ko Samui

Having a lot of years all over Texas, and loving' barbecue, I wanted to get in and try this place in Samui as soon as I saw it. It's a long haul from Texas, but the barbecue was very good the night we were there. Brisket cooked just right, not dry, great flavour - pork ribs were the same, just right, what little chunk my bride would let me have, at least. The Burmese (Myanmar)staff were very friendly (thanks Joe) and put on a good plate for us. Sides were coleslaw and mashed potatoes, also good eatin'. I was interested to know what species of tree they were barbecuin' with, but they did not know. Note to boss who was not there: Some of us like to know these things, especially after eating a ton of hickory and mesquite - barbecued meat in the lone star. Portions were a good size for someone who ain't in his 20's anymore and eatin' everthin' in sight. My bride scoffed up them pork ribs like it was her last meal. I reckon her being younger caused that. The dogs didn't come beg at the table, which is also a good thing. Evidently they did not need to - by the look of 'em, just laid there looking at us. Genuine barbecue house dogs, well-fed and happy. Beer...

Very disappointing experience.

We ordered the platter for four people and were shocked by how little food we received:

1 chicken leg

2 sausages

3 pieces of ribs

Brisket (which we were later told wasn’t actually brisket)

2 slices of plain white bread

This cost 2,200 baht — how does that make sense? How are four people meant to share three ribs or a single chicken leg?

The brisket (or whatever it was) was cold, tough, and nearly impossible to chew. It definitely didn’t taste freshly cooked — not today, maybe not even yesterday.

To top it off, one of our sides was missing, and when we mentioned it to the server, there was no apology or compensation offered.

Honestly, I've never felt more ripped off at a restaurant in my entire life.

Honestly, if there’s one restaurant you should visit in Koh Samui, it’s this one. Don’t think twice – just go, you won’t regret it!

Le personnel est d’une gentillesse exceptionnelle, un niveau de bienveillance qu’on retrouve rarement.
