Chaweng Lake — Attraction in Surat Thani Province

A precious public space, close to Chaweng's main street. It's great for jogging and walking, though the concrete walkway is a tad too ugly and the land along much of the pathway has been flattened for some development of sorts. It would be nice if a lot more trees and bushes were planted along the periphery of the lake to provide shade and keep the area cool. I noticed bird trappers in the area, sadly, trapping spotted doves, and people in the area use the walkway for their scooters, endangering themselves and the joggers/walkers. The Lake is at its best in the evening when a cool breeze makes the whole area pleasant. There are clean, free toilets and an outdoor gym, as well. The lake on the Chaweng side has been beautified with flowering plants and several large trees provide roosting for a variety of birds. Would be great if they make this into a...

The Lake is a very popular running / jogging spot, and it even has some exercise equipment on the southeastern end.

One full lap of the lake is approximately 6.8km.

I would suggest running in at sunrise or late afternoon before dusk or the sun will bake you. Secondly: there are no lights illuminating the walkway.

At certain days, there is a night market and on holiday even bigger events.

Lots of parking options for your scooter or car. Red taxi also frequently pass by.
