I went to Macky's two times for dinner. I wouldn’t consider it cheap but the prices are reasonable and every dish I had (Isan/Thai food) was delicious and came in a good serving size even for western tourists. The staff was always attentive and polite. The second evening I got the chance to talk with the owner, who is a friendly lady with good English skills.
Personally, I liked sitting outside with a nice view of the Mekong river. In the evenings it can get a little cold if it cools down and there is a little wind. You might want to bring something with long sleeves, especially if you’re sitting there for an extended period of time. Also, I would advise bringing some mosquito-repellent spray because, well… you’re next to water.
When I was there, the shop next door always had someone sing to a questionable (regarding the pleasure of that musical experience) karaoke machine with their own guitar added to it. I’m sure they tried to the best of their ability. However, it was unfortunately too loud to just ignore it. It might be an added factor for your entertainment or something you might want to avoid. That’s up to you. Don’t let it keep you from going there yourself and miss out.
I would visit Macky's again if I'm back in Nong Khai and recommend you have a...
Read moreAte here a few times and at different times of the day and all of the food was of really good quality and tasted really good. And so were the drinks.
We had Western, Thai and Isan dishes and all of them were very good.
They put the tables right by the riverside in the evenings if the weather is good (except on Saturdays, due to the walking street market), so it is perfect for a sunset view and a nice breeze. There is also a nice view from the seats outside.
But good anytime of day. One of the daytime staff had a bit of an odd attitude one day, but otherwise the service was good, friendly and as mentioned before, the food quality was good. If ordering eggs in a sandwich, you may want to mention soft fried eggs, if that's what you want, as they tend to cook them then through. See picture.
Would be nice if they always brought you a glass of water...
Read moreMy favourite at the Nongkhai Walkingstreet among The Mekong River. From Breakfast to Dinner and all in between, I have never had any complaint about Macky's. Great Coffee and food for reasonable prices, a wonderful service with a smile Thai Style, a large menu card with Thai and Western dishes, nice little background music, cleaner than my own house, what else can I say? Oh, maybe that in the evening on the patio in front of the restaurant, there is about 6 days a week a Thai Duo playing life music, from Sunset until about 8.30 pm (only when there is no rain or...
