I recently visited Chuan Kitchen Mueang Thong Thani and had a delightful dining experience. This restaurant is a gem for lovers of Asian cuisine, offering a variety of dishes that cater to different palates. Here's a breakdown of what I tried:
Cha Noodle: The cha noodles were a highlight of the meal. Perfectly cooked to an ideal texture, they had a wonderful chewiness that was both satisfying and flavorful. The accompanying broth was rich and aromatic, with a depth of flavor that suggested a well-balanced mix of spices and herbs. The portion size was generous, making it a great choice for a hearty meal.
Hokkien Mee: The hokkien mee at Chuan Kitchen was another standout dish. The noodles were beautifully stir-fried, capturing the essence of wok hei, that elusive smoky flavor that defines great stir-fried dishes. The seafood was fresh and plentiful, including succulent prawns and tender squid. The dish was well-seasoned, with a savory sauce that coated every strand of noodle, offering a perfect balance of flavors.
Mala Soup: For those who enjoy a spicy kick, the mala soup at Chuan Kitchen is a must-try. The soup was vibrant with a deep red color, indicating the fiery experience to come. The spiciness was bold but not overwhelming, allowing the other flavors to shine through. The ingredients were plentiful, with a good mix of meats, tofu, and vegetables, each absorbing the spicy broth beautifully. It was a comforting yet exhilarating dish that left a...
Read moreOn the 11th Jan, I googled for a dim sum restaurant near me and Chuan Kitchen was recommended. I was quite happy because it is quite near to where I live in Muang Thong Thani. So I went there for the 1st time with my friend for lunch. Even though it is a Singaporean restuarant that features local S'porean dishes, I was quite delighted because I am a Malaysian and we have similar local dishes as well. I ordered Char Quay Teow which disappointed me much. For 195bahts, there are no prawns except for a few pieaces of chinese sausage and a few slices of thin fish cake. Cockles are nowhere to be seen. There is no value for the price paid. The 2nd dish I ordered was the Hainanese Chicken Rice. The rice was cold and so was the soup. The chicken was bland and for the price of 165bahts, it's over priced. Lastly, I ordered the Xiao long pau. There are only 6 pieces for 240bahts which is again over priced. For the same price, I had 8 pieces when I ate at Din Tai Fung restsuarant in Taipei Taiwan last week. Service was very cold and non interactive with customers. A pot of hot tea comes without a plate under and tea spilled all over the table when it is poured out. The ambience was average as it is quite spacious with ample parking space. I hope that my feedback is positive and constructive for your future improvement in your business. I also hope that this will not be my 1st and last experience at...
Read moreA long time ago, longing for the home food I missed so much, I found Chuan over at a plot of shop houses at Bangsue. I had the best Singapore Laksa in Thailand then. I tried their Satay, it was close with that herby Malay Indian infused flavors. The Char Kuay Teow, well it was not spot on and the Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee lacked the signature raw flavor of a good prawn stock. Those were the days of old, a time long past. Then, the construction of BTS came along and Chuan was gone from Bang Sue.
Many years later, I accidentally found it opposite those abandoned condominium at Muang Thong, I had my Laksa. Retuning again, Chuan was gone yet another time and my cravings for Singapore food remained unfulfilled. And now after a good year or two, I found Chuan again. Finally my long search is over. I ordered that infamous Singapore Laksa like I did the first time I was in Bang Sue. Slurp down the soup, it is still spot on, the essence of thick Singapore flavors maintained, the right kind of noodles, the same hum and even the fish cakes and tau pok are still faithfully replicated in this dish. Chuan had grown, it’s a much larger and grander establishment now. I shall be back to give verdict to every Singapore dish in their menu, the Char Kuay Teow shall be my next target. My long cravings for home food, now I found. It may be out of the way from my normal travels but...
