Pensook View Cafe — Restaurant in Patong

If you're looking for a restaurant with a great view to enjoy during your meal or coffee, there are several options in Patong that offer excellent scenery. However, regardingthis time experience, I would rate this particular restaurant three stars overall, with 2.5 stars specifically for the view.

During my first visit, motivated by positive reviews on social media, I ordered several local dishes: Mhoo Hong, crab omelette, and pork fried rice. Unfortunately, each dish had its shortcomings.

Mhoo Hong, a popular local dish in Phuket, was not as tender or sweet as expected; it was quite tough to chew. The crab omelette was disappointing as it primarily contained crab legs, resulting in numerous bones that made eating difficult and unenjoyable. Lastly, the pork fried rice appeared to be made with meat that seemed to have been previously cooked, which detracted from the freshness one might hope for in this simple yet classic dish.

The Pensook View Cafe sits nestled amongst a jungle outcrop in the North Patong hills overlooking Patong Bay. Newly opened, this cafe/restaurant is sure to be a hit. With food matching any five star establishment in Phuket (and at a quarter of the price), sweeping views of the bay and wonderfully warm and attentive staff we had the most wonderful evening. Pensook is tricky to find. On exiting Patong on the way to Kamala you need to take a sharp left turn on top of Patong Hill just before you reach the shrine (Phun Thao Kong) on the opposite side of the road. Our bill which consisted of five dishes, rice and five large beers came in at a touch over 1200 baht, amazing value. If you are considering visiting just do it, you will not be disappointed. (Update.
