Title: A Cold Reception to Cold Pizza at Frankie's Inn
My experience at Frankie's Inn Italian Restaurant on International Pizza Day was overshadowed by a series of disappointments, with the climax being the arrival of our pizzas — cold, underwhelming, and far from the warm, inviting dish synonymous with comfort and celebration. This was not merely a minor hiccup in service or presentation; it was a fundamental failure in delivering the essence of what makes pizza universally adored.
The ambiance of Frankie's Inn, a peculiar hybrid of hotel and restaurant, already set a perplexing stage for our dinner. Seated uncomfortably close to the reception, the setting felt more akin to a warehouse than a dining room. This, coupled with a palpably unwelcoming staff whose approach bordered on aggression rather than service, began our evening on a disheartening note.
While the restaurant boasted a respectable wine list and the novelty of Stella Artois on tap, the food itself, from appetizers to the main course, struggled to impress. The service of dishes was staggered and uncoordinated, disrupting the flow of our meal. Yet, these issues paled in comparison to the main event — the pizza.
On a day dedicated to pizza, one expects warmth, both in service and in the dish itself. Instead, our pizzas arrived cold, an unexpected and unappetizing deviation from the norm. When we brought this to the attention of our waitress, her response was shockingly dismissive. She shrugged, stating, "That's the way we serve it," before offering to reheat it in the oven — with a warning that it might return burnt — or to microwave it, a suggestion that left us even more dismayed. Opting against either unsatisfactory solution, we were left to contend with our cold pizzas as they were.
This encounter not only marred our International Pizza Day celebration but also highlighted a glaring disregard for customer satisfaction and culinary standards at Frankie's Inn. The offered solutions — a burnt pizza or one microwaved to lukewarm mediocrity — were as unappetizing as the dish itself. It was a vivid illustration of the restaurant's indifference to the quality of their food and the dining experience of their customers.
In retrospect, the cold pizza became emblematic of our entire experience at Frankie's Inn: a cold, unwelcoming atmosphere from start to finish. It's a lasting impression that, unfortunately, ensures our first visit to celebrate International Pizza Day will also...

From the moment you step inside, you are welcomed by the vibrant presence of Frankie himself—an owner and culinary maestro who takes the time to greet each guest with warmth and a passion for his craft. His recommendations for food and wine are nothing short of delightful, making each dining experience feel personalized.
During my visit, Frankie shared fascinating insights into his artistry, explaining the four distinctive types of flour he uses for his Focaccia and the seven variations of pizza dough that create their authentic Italian pizzas. And let's not forget the handmade pastas that are the stars of his menu—each bite is a testament to dedication and love.
We kicked off our meal with a refreshing Caprese salad that was bursting with flavor, followed by the sea bass and Strozzapreti, a dish that has likely earned the title of the best meal I’ve had in ages. Every element was crafted to perfection, and I found myself savoring every mouthwatering bite.
As I write this, I can hardly contain my excitement as I await Frankie’s recommended dessert: panettone. Picture this: a heavenly pistachio cream draping a light Italian sponge cake accompanied by a scoop of velvety ice cream. The anticipation alone makes my taste buds dance!
I have already decided that my vacation wouldn’t be complete without nightly visits to Frankie's—though my girlfriend might insist on a bit of variety!
For anyone visiting Jomtien or Pattaya, I wholeheartedly recommend you experience Frankie's at least once. Your taste buds will...
Read moreThe best restaurant I found on my recent trip to the Jomtien Beach area! Great food, staff and owner. I've lived in the Kingdom for more than 17 years and am considering making a move from the Chiang Mai area to the South. I know how difficult it can be for restaurant owners to keep good staff and offer quality meals and service in a lovely relaxing atmosphere on a continuing basis. So, I've decided that I will have to make my move to the beach in an area very near this quality restaurant venue. Matter of fact, I'm getting really hungry writing this review and thinking about the menu selection at Frankie's!
