I recently had the opportunity to dine at Mays Pattaya, a restaurant in Pattaya that I had been looking forward to visiting. With my reservations made a month in advance, I had high hopes for a memorable dining experience on my last evening in the city.
Let me begin by saying that the food at Mays Pattaya exceeded my expectations. Each dish was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. The flavors were well-balanced, and the level of spiciness was just right for my Asian palate. I highly recommend trying their fried squid and pineapple fried rice, as well as their curry combo set. The tom yum soup, in particular, stood out with its generous portion of succulent prawns.
While the food left a positive impression, I must admit that my overall experience was slightly marred by a small incident, which affected my perception of the restaurant. Upon entering, I was immediately struck by the stylish and well-decorated ambiance. Despite my reservation being for 6 PM, there were several empty seats, so I chose a table that seemed the most comfortable. However, a male staff member rudely informed me that the table was reserved and directed me to a table near the restroom, which was less ideal and located further inside the restaurant. This interaction left me feeling disheartened, especially considering the availability of other tables of similar size and my own reservation. I decided to stand my ground and remain at the table I had initially chosen, despite the male staff member's continued murmurs and unfriendly demeanor. Unfortunately, as I do not speak Thai, I could not comprehend his comments fully, but his unfriendly gaze was enough to dampen my mood for the rest of the evening.
However, I must emphasize that the female server assigned to my table managed to turn my experience around entirely. Her warm smile and polite demeanor exemplified a level of service befitting a fine dining establishment. She presented each dish with great care and provided excellent service throughout the evening. Her attentiveness and professionalism made me feel comfortable, allowing me to forget the initial unpleasantness. I genuinely believe that she is a true asset to the restaurant, and I hope the management recognizes her exceptional performance and treats her accordingly.
In conclusion, Mays Pattaya offers a delightful culinary experience with its delicious and well-presented food. While I did encounter a disappointing incident involving a rude male staff member, the exceptional service provided by the female server more than made up for it. I would recommend this restaurant to others, but I also hope that the management addresses the issue of staff behavior to ensure a consistently pleasant dining experience for...
Read moreI'm starting to think that a lot of these establishments have fake reviews on social media to drive traffic, unsuspecting tourists are most likely to fall victim to it. So this restaurant came highly recommended both online and by a local Realtor who believes this is a frequented place by a lot of foreigners. So I gave it a shot. I have to tell you that one of the most important things about any business establishment is SERVICE and any business that cannot put customers, and I mean paying customers 1st, will probably not survive for very long. Well my experience walking straight into the door wasn't great, it was around 8:00 p.m. on a week night, the place was maybe 60-70% full, the attitude from the server was indifferent, neither welcoming nor warm. I had trouble even getting seated, it just didn't seem like they really cared if you stayed or not. There was another male staff who I believe were more senior, he didn't even bother addressing arriving guests standing there waiting to be seated to a table , he was neither welcoming nor warm to greet us. So at this point I'm like maybe I should go eat somewhere else, and that's what we ended up doing. And looking at some of the other reviews, about the food quality, service and such, I do believe that maybe this establishment is stacking and faking a lot of these reviews and the food there really isn't great, but just the tourist trap, so don't say you weren't warned. Response..... And no, this review was not posted by mistake, it is an exact and accurate account of what happened when I came in to dine a couple of nights ago. And the fact that you try to remove legitimate reviews by customers actual experience says you know exactly what you're doing and trying to game the google review system, to manipulate in your favor. Good customer service would dictate you find out first what you did wrong, correct then apologize, but that is not your first instinct is it. My account of your bad customer service and a complete lack of understanding of customer orientation is spot on, demonstrated by your subsequent action to remove legitimate reviews. Never once did you try to inquire what actually happened or an...
Read moreThis is a nice place for food but not without its problems... We arrived yesterday afternoon to try here. Outside is pretty well hidden with all the foliage, you need to look up a bit to see the sign. Upon entering you are welcomed from the Thai heat but a nice cool AC'd restaurant. The restaurant is partitioned by a wall, unsure if one area is smoking? Interior deco is dark with the obvious Thai Buddha orchids and Buddha paintings looking down on you. Quite a few tables which are for couples to groups of 8. All tables look nice are are comfortable. First we choose the area to the right, this area is where the food arrives from. First table we sat at we had To move because there we loads of ants under the place mat, was some left food there for them to eat, ok it's easy to miss bits when cleaning.. After a while at the 2nd table we were asked to move to the other room as there was water comming from somewhere in the room we were in, possibly fridge? Ok musical chairs, not a great start to our first visit.... So finally we settle down to the third table and make our orders. While making our orders we constantly state that I am vegetarian, no meat, no seafood, no soup made with chicken or pork stock etc... The food starts to arrive, all food is very nicely presented and came nearly all together, so we start to eat. The flavours of the food is very nice, nothing is overpowering for the dishes we had, nothing was extra spicy and all food very well presented, then I try the pineapple fried rice.... With prawns!! If you look in the pictures you can see them... We asked for vegetarian food so many times and yet it still come out with prawns, I don't think Thais grab the concept of vegetarians even when mentioning no seafood! Explained that to the staff and the food was taken away and replaced with a vegetarian one... After all these problems I'm giving it average, it could very well be Excellent but maybe we were unlucky to see these things and have these problems? Very nice food but you might not get what you want which could be a disaster for someone with...
