The Caddy Shack — Restaurant in Pattaya City

This is a review of the restaurant, not the rooms. I came once for breakfast recently, and that was fine. The food was good, the price was reasonable, and the service was fine. I found myself in the same area this evening, and decided to give the dinner menu a try. The restaurant was mostly empty, but service was incredibly slow. I waited a full 45 minutes after ordering for my meal to arrive. I ordered the roast beef special, which is not something that needs to be cooked to order. The components just need to be plated. I also was not happy when one of the waitresses walked off with the little tray that holds condiments before my meal had even arrived. Fortunately another waitress headed her off and my condiments were returned, but it was still another 15 minutes before my food came. Looking around, it seemed that the other customers were also experiencing slow service. The food eventually appeared, and to the restaurant's credit, it was a lot of food for the money. However, when a different waitress came by to collect on the bill, I had to remind her that I still had a dessert coming. She looked a little shell shocked, frankly. I don't know if the restaurant was short-staffed, or if there was a problem in the kitchen, or if my experience was simply typical for The Caddy Shack. Good prices, nice staff and certainly dependable Pub. Been going to the caddy shack for a couple of years now, nothing has really changed which is certainly something good about a Pub.

The staff know me well and generally know what I will order, I often have their breakfasts which are 120 for a fair meal. Something I would certainly recommend is their liver onions and bacon dish, really tasty home cooked recipe, huge portion making it very very good deal at 195 THB.

I would also recommend their cider deals, some of the cheapest cider pints in town at just 120 THB. Great deal! They have a fair selection of beers and their Sunday roast seem very popular. 225 THB including desert and a soft drink.

They have a talking Royal Mina bird at the front of the pub which gives it quite a bit of character, it knows how to say 'sawadii krub' and will talk to you once it gets to know you. I know it sounds silly, but I love coming here so I can spend sometime interacting with this charming creature, I've been told by the staff it prefers...

When you enter, there is a nice atmosphere and you feel like you could be entering many a pub in the UK. The staff are numerous, friendly, very attentive and helpful. My wife went for the Sunday 3 course meal at a cracking price of 275 Baht. We both had Roast Beef as the main, but I only had Apple crumble after with no starter. We were both very full at the end, as she passed over items she couldn’t manage, which I eagerly devoured. Not only was the tender beef the best MEAT I have tasted in Thailand, it is one of the best I have had in the UK! Very generous size as well. Roast pots, creamy mash and veg were all expertly cooked. The Apple pie and custard hit the spot as well, again a generous portion. The prices represent exceptional value for such quality food.
