FOOD POISONING NIGHTMARE!
I thought that I need to share the ordeal that we went through, as it may be relevant to prospective diners. I gave it a 2-stars as the place looks clean, and the table waitresses hard working.
We normally stayed in Jomtien beach area, where we have access to large professional seafood joins like Pupen. This time around, we stayed at a beachfront resort in Naklua, near View D seafood restaurant. Sort of laziness, I selected a seafood restaurant nearby based on Google Ratings reviews, as we do not have access to a car and rely on BOLT taxi! Read the following events leading to the Food Poisoning Ordeal!
Day 1 (Jan 11): 2 of us for Lunch - 1Kg of Fresh Water Shrimps. some beers - over 1,400Baht - OK so far
Day 2 (Next Day): My wife's sister and brother visting - we took them to the same place - 1/2 kg of fresk walter shrimp, a deep fried seabass fish, a tomYam, some veggie, some beers - 1,900Baht - Ok so far
Day 3 (Jan 14) : My wife sister's birthday - Ok out of laziness, we went to this View D Seafood joint again. The reason for a repeating visit, is that there are no customer other than us so some Privacy(?), during lunch. This time, the ordeal started:
A deep fried fish again, some kangsom soup, a deep fried crab snack, a veggie, a CLAM plate, a COCKLE plate - 1,900Baht
Within 5 mins of ordering, the Cockle plate arrived. I tried 1 cockle, and noticed right away, why it was very cold like being long time in the fridge, normally cockle shell is burning hot when you just touch the shell, and half of the shell was removed before serving, and within 5 mins of ordering. The table waitress said that "Oh, it was cooked but dipped into cold water(?).
Well, by 7pm, my wife was in the hotel bed suffering from severe food poisoning. I watched in horror her ordeal whole night while feeding her with Pepto Bismol, and Tylenol and prayed for her recovery. The hotel was closed down after 7pm, and if you need to go to the hospital for emergency, What happens and How during Covid time? Lucklly, I carried those emergency aids everytime we visit a seafood joint in SE Asia! It took 2 days for my wife to recover on bed, until her fever reduces to a normal level. Both my wife's sister and brother got the same food poisoning, except at less severity, as they are Thai local and can tolerate the ordeal when they arrive back in Bangkok. I was safe, as I only tasted 1 piece and stopped when doubting about the cold condition of the shellfish.
On her agonizing bed, my wife called the restaurant to report the issue; the manager did call back to offer a 1,000baht raincheck voucher as an apology. Of course, my wife declined it, as the nightmare is still freshly in her memory, and we certainly wont dare to get back to visit this restaurant anymore
Well, hoping this report helping new diners. If you really want to visit this restaurant, just stick with what you see available in the tank, either BBQ or deep fried to be sure. It is expensive, but dont fall in the trap for old preserved shellfish and risk your life, and at a double markup price from the neighbourhood foodprice. The cooking is mediocre, I dont know if they employ a professional Chef or just someone cooking at street food...

If you want a table right by the sea, you’ll need to call ahead. Closer to the evening, they usually stop taking reservations because the seafront tables are already full. But don’t worry—there are still plenty of seats available indoors or at the outdoor area a little further back.
🌅 The View This is the spot for sunset lovers: a wide horizon, calm waters, and small local fishing boats drifting across the sea. As the sun goes down, the sky turns into layers of glowing orange, painting the clouds in a soft, golden shimmer.
🦞 The Food The seafood here is consistently well-executed.

🎶 The Entertainment There’s also a male singer providing live music. His singing style feels more like the sound comes straight out of his mouth rather than from deep in his lungs—but it’s still pleasant enough to accompany dinner. Read moreWell this restaurant had a great environment, the staff were very helpful, service is a bonus as she waited while I drank my beer and sure enough, she rushed over to pour more beer into my glass, For me I think that was wondering, I just stopped in for a cold drink as I was exploring the area, I will definitely return, try out the food as it looked very delicious, plus I will bring other family to try out this new spot. Guys/ Gals, please visit this area if you don't want to see to many tourist. The area treated you like a rock star, everyone was so friendly, seriously, A MUST GO AREA & Restaurant. Little playground for the kids, right next to the water, but don't fall in as the water is within reach ,if you stick your hand out the large windows.
