Exceptional. If there is one restaurant you have to try on Yao Noi, it's Kaya's restaurant. Owned by a local Muslim family, the delicious and flavourful food is lovingly prepared by the talented cook Jah. The stand out dish was the massaman curry with beef - sweetness added by sweet potato which was surprising but very tasty. We also ordered the chicken curry with coconut milk and galangal - full of aromatics and the flavour just kept on giving, the pad Thai - great and no overpowering tomato base, and the sticky rice with green mango. The restaurant itself is clean and well maintained, a simple open structure (make sure you have insect repellent - which you should have on the island anyway!). We were thinking about the days pre-Google reviews and feel that Kaya's would have been one of the few eating options on the Lonely Planet guide for Koh Yao Noi. Tasty local food with a low price point. Support a local family and pay them a visit. They might not be on the beach, but I think that's part...
Read moreKoh Yao Noi actually has some really nice restaurants with some really nice food, we tried most of them but Kaya was the one we came to 4 times. The Mango sticky rice is amazing, I don't have another one to compare with but now I am actually scared that when I eat Mango sticky rice again somewhere else, it just won't be as perfect as the one at Kaya. The restaurant is really sweet, you feel so free in there. If you like you can put off your shoes before entering the eating area, that gives the whole dining a new feeling (if you are not already used to walking barefoot daily). The people there are so nice, they come so fast and give you the menu, they bring drinking water for free and as soon as you drank like the half of your glass, they come and refill it. The food there is delicious, you want to eat more and more and always come back. The prices are also very good. A big thank you and a lot of respect to the cook and her family. We were actually sad to leave the island because we can't eat...
Read moreService is amazing here. Food is amazing too! The restaurant is really clean and nicely decorated, noticed that the staff were not wearing shoes so we took off ours as well before entering, but other foreigners did not notice and wore their flip flops in. Be courteous and aware when visiting other countries... Back to the restaurant: Food is amazing here!! Prices seems reasonable and fair for this island, even on the cheaper side when comparing to tourist catered restaurants. We ordered a pad Thai with chicken and green curry with squid. Everything was well presented and tasted amazing, the best food we’ve had so far in Thailand! So fresh and well prepared! And the ladies working are so...
