Serious question, "Why isn't this place packed all the time!?"

The best meal we had in Koh Yao Yai, and top 3 in Thailand overall! Not only that, this was the only restaurant we stumbled upon in Koh Yao Yai without the "tourist" prices. My husband and I was feeling a little beat down after a few days of constantly faced w outrageous pricing on the island for food, even the hole-in-the-wall establishments. We're willing to pay for good food, but really don't like the feeling of being ripped off because we're foreigners.

It's family-run--so kind, accommodating, and hospitable. You can tell they love what they do, because at one point, I was watching them through the kitchen door, and 4 people hovered over preparing the food and putting final touches on the dishes.

We went there twice during our 4 night stay at the Koh Yao Yai Village resort, because the food was so great and the “juice” was just incredible, especially at the really low price point it all came in. They have a juicer that they use to extract fresh fruit and they serve you a really large jug with crushed ice for just 50 Bhat. The mango sticky rice was among our top 3 in the Phuket and Islands area. They also have Tofu and offer vegetarian options if you ask them. We had in total four different dishes, spring rolls, fried rice, seafood noodle soup and Roti. Besides, that we thought they did not understand what we ordered as main dish (it seemed they brought us something different than ordered) the food was below average. Fried rice was ok but the portion was very small. The seafood of the noodle soup did not seem fresh, rather from a bought box. For the Roti, they called someone else and then had someone deliver it.
