I stopped for lunch at this restaurant on a friend's recommendation from Ranong. Though it’s not on the Bangkok-Phuket highway, my detour to Ranong led me to this hidden gem by Michellin's, offering creative Thai dishes like Lotus Stem and Bitter Beans.
The menu isn’t extensive, but the "Must-Try" dishes are amazing. At first, the antique and quiet ambiance surprised me, but it has held Michelin stars for six consecutive years instantly. Impressively, they also offer Thai cooking classes and a herbal foot Spa — a perfect place for a well-rounded experience. If I had more time, I’d have definitely tried the spa after my long drive from Bangkok.
The cooking class costs 2,000 THB for three menus, a great deal—especially for couples, as it’s private. Unfortunately, I didn’t ask about the spa pricing.
Now, onto the highlight—the food! The flavors are bold and authentically Thai, kind of different from what you’d find in Bangkok. The Green Garden with Jazz music added to the charm. The Chicken Massaman was rich and creamy, and the Pandan Snack was my favorite. A fun moment was when I ordered Som Tam—the staff picked a fresh papaya straight from the tree!
This restaurant is a must-visit. In terms of price-to-taste, I’d rate it 9/10. The warm, attentive staff made the experience even better. If you're looking for an authentic and memorable Thai dining experience, this place is well...
Read moreI had a terrible experience at this restaurant. While the atmosphere and décor were pleasant, the food and service were severely disappointing. This was the worst Thai food I've had in a long time. Our meal was plagued by issues from the start. The deep-fried papaya salad and prawn noodle dishes we wanted were unavailable. The menu's inconsistencies were baffling; they had stir fried with prawns no but no prawns and noodles??? We even received still water instead of the soda water we requested. We eventually ordered yellow curry with pork (specified as "mildly spiced"), sweet and sour chicken, and a side of rice. The rice arrived late. The portion sizes were ridiculously small, even for someone with a modest appetite. My yellow curry contained only five tiny, chewy pieces of pork and was far too spicy, despite our request for mild spice. It was clear the dish wasn't cooked to order, but rather pre-prepared, explaining the excessive chili (four slices!). The sweet and sour chicken was bland and contained very little chicken or vegetables – a stark contrast to a far superior dish we enjoyed in Koh Tao. The quality simply didn't match the price, and I'm baffled by the positive reviews. I regret not taking photos to document the minuscule portion sizes, but I will do so...
Read moreI think the prices here are medium to high. Today, the two of us spent 1,100 baht for three dishes, a soup and two drinks. The drinks were 80 baht, which I think is a bit expensive. The other dishes are basically in the 200-300 range. The auntie who came to settle the bill for us today was very friendly, and the other waiter was very nice. This place is still very big and filled with all kinds of old-fashioned accessories as decoration, which is also unique. But I have a small suggestion. There is a chair at the door where you can take pictures. I originally planned to sit down and take pictures, but because it is outdoors near the roadside, the chairs and tables are all dusty. So I gave up taking pictures. I think the staff should clean it every day. There is also a lack of ambient music, and payment can only be made by bank transfer, not by scanning QR codes, which is very inconvenient. Overall, I am quite satisfied...
