The chicken grill menu are quite nice, as well as the grill veggies. The restaurant is locate in a single unit, one down stairs out of 3 stories townhouse. There are about three serving tables with 8-9 seats at the counter bar section, no parking space unless you park by the curb and walk in the ally. On my first visit, sous-chef recommended a half cooked grill from chicken menu, which is a bit unusual at first. This might not be appealing to some people for an undercooked chicken, although, chicken sashimi is quite common in some restaurant. The dish we tried was chicken heart and liver. Personally, an under cooked chicken heart can be unusually tasty but for the liver might be bit too much undercooked. I wouldn't mind liver being little undercooked, it even tastier undercooked sometimes but for this grill in particular, I wish for little more cooked and less bloody for the liver. Overall, I think ABIY's got good quality in mostly grill dishes and rather enjoyable, worth for its price. I tried the steam chicken with eggs on rice, which seemed to be one of their recommended dish but I wish more of a taste as it was rather dull and little tasteless compares...
Read moreA rainy night in On Nut led us to Abiy’s Kitchen (AK), and we were so glad to find it.
Who knew Izakaya plates and bites, house music, an open kitchen layout, and a dimly lit intimate, romantic setting would combine so well?
While AK has an upstairs dining area, I think a counter seat looking into the kitchen and charcoal grills is the best spot. It transports you to a Tokyo state of mind. It also gives you a front row seat and view of the care and attention to detail from the chefs and kitchen staff.
We loved the grilled chicken gizzards and other parts, as well as the oysters, and salads. AK also offers a decent selection of drinks, ranging from highballs to lagers, cocktails, and single malts.
The classic American songbook tracks played earlier, and house music later give AK an atmosphere edge, making it a great spot for a low-key date night or gathering with friends.
On Nut, you’ve...
Read moreVery nice Yakitori place in Phra Khanong.
This place shares the location with a ramen shop: for lunch you can eat ramen for dinner Yakitori. But it seems like the ramen place will move soon so it‘s just the Yakitori place then. And actually this place is more than Yakitori. They have sashimi and pasta as well. But the skewers are the star. And most skewers are chicken themed. From breast to thigh. From liver to hearts - they make use of the whole animal. Nothing is being thrown away. I like that concept.
They also have a good drink section. So you can easily spend the...
