Nestled on a lively soi brimming with bars and restaurants, The Spices 51 Indian restaurant offers a charming spot to enjoy dinner while soaking up the vibrant atmosphere of Hua Hin. The street comes alive in the late evening, making it a great place to sit outside, watch the world go by, and enjoy a meal.
The service at Spices 51 is warm and friendly, contributing to the inviting ambiance of the place. The menu is extensive, catering to a variety of tastes, which is always a plus for those who enjoy exploring Indian cuisine.
We started with the Daal Makhani curry, which was rich and flavorful. While the taste was exceptional, the consistency could have been a bit thicker for our liking. The portion size felt a tad small, especially considering the slightly higher price point. However, the quality and taste certainly made up for it.
My wife particularly enjoyed the Vegetable Pulao, which was cooked to perfection. The Lacha Paratha and Tandoori Roti were excellent accompaniments to the curry, each complementing the dishes well with their authentic flavors.
Although pricier than other Indian options in Hua Hin, such as those at Baan Khun Pa, Spices 51 stands out for its superior taste and quality. It’s a great choice for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience with authentic Indian flavors.
Overall, it was a delightful evening, and I’d recommend giving The Spices 51 a visit if you’re in the area. The vibrant setting, delicious food, and attentive service make it worth trying, especially for Indian...

I visited Spice 51 in Hua Hin this evening with two friends, excited for a good Indian meal. I remember it being slow but worth the wait in the past. Tonight was a completely different story.
First, we were surprised by a new server—perhaps the owner? The place was completely empty, but the wait time was ridiculous. We weren’t in a hurry, so we stayed positive. However, when we ordered, things started going downhill fast. They were out of chicken for one of our dishes—fine, we adjusted, no big deal.
But then the drinks took forever, and the food took over an hour to arrive. When it finally did, the disappointment hit hard. Every dish was awful. The food was not fresh, the flavors were terrible—nothing like what this place used to serve. We couldn’t even eat it.
To make matters worse, I ordered a mild butter chicken for my son, who can’t eat spicy food. I double-checked with the server, who assured me it wasn’t spicy. When it arrived, guess what? It was spicy. Her excuse? “We didn’t add chili, it’s just naturally spicy.” My son couldn’t eat it, and they had nothing else in stock to offer.
We left without finishing anything, barely touched the food, and took it home for the dogs. It’s safe to say we won’t be back. I even asked the server if they had changed chefs—they have—and the new one is clearly not up to par.
I don’t know what happened to this place, but avoid it at all costs. Such a huge...
Read moreMy daughter and I have been wanting to try The Spices 51 Indian Restaurant for quite some time. Finally, on Thai Father's Day, we had our opportunity.
First, I was concerned about the parking situation on Soi 51, so I called ahead to see if there could be a solution. The restaurant owner guided me in and he flagged me down in front of his restaurant and he led me to some empty parking spaces right behind his restaurant. Very convenient!
Second, I was a little worried that we might not get a table, but there was available seating when we arrived after 7 PM.
We ordered some Pani Puri and some Tandoori Boneless Chicken Pieces as starter dishes and then we had some Prawn Khadai Curry, some Dhal Makhani Curry and some Garlic Naan, Lachan Paratha and some yellow rice. I did remember to snap some photos. All in all, the food was pretty good, but the Dhal Makhani could have been a little thicker with depth of flavor. The next time we visit, I will ask for the curry to be a bit more spiced.
I know it might be inconvenient for a restaurant, but I would appreciate a Vegetarian Thali Set or a Non-vegetarian Thali Set. My daughter doesn't always eat a lot and then I feel that I have to clean the plates. Thali Set Platters allow an individual diner to try small portions of a couple of dishes.
The owner is very friendly and helpful. The restaurant dining area is clean and well-kept.
We will return to try...
