I recently had the pleasure of dining at Weena, a gem of a local restaurant that serves up delicious home-cooked meals with an authentic Asian touch.
The menu at Weena offers a taste of home-cooked goodness, reminiscent of a traditional Asian meal. One standout dish was the pork with sweet Thai chili sauce – a delightful blend of flavors that transported me to the heart of Thailand. The Thai basil added a fragrant and aromatic touch, enhancing the overall experience.
One of the highlights was the super delicious fried omelette with minced pork, a dish that truly captured the essence of an authentic Asian-style omelette. Each bite was a symphony of textures and flavors, offering a genuine taste of home-cooked comfort.
To cap off the meal, I indulged in the Thai mango sticky rice – a heavenly combination of sweet mango, delicious coconut milk, and perfectly sticky rice. It was the ideal conclusion to a satisfying and flavorsome dining experience.
What truly made the dining experience special was the presence of the lovely owner. Not only did she create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, but she also demonstrated excellent English proficiency, making the entire dining process seamless. Her accommodating and thoughtful approach added an extra layer of charm to the overall experience.
While Weena is situated in a somewhat remote location, it is an absolute hidden gem that should not be missed. The food alone makes the journey worthwhile, and the calming ambiance of the location adds to the overall appeal.
The prices at Weena are reasonable, offering excellent value for the quality of food served. The combination of delicious home-cooked meals, a friendly owner, and a tranquil setting makes Weena a standout dining destination. If you're in search of an authentic Asian dining experience that won't break the bank, Weena is...
Read moreAfter passing this just before arriving at the Marriott, we made sure to pay a visit. It delivered the laid back and wallet friendly alternative to the hotel restaurants for a welcome change, as well as access to that simple restaurant setup which is more common to Thailand.
This is a typical Thai eatery - very relaxed, plastic chairs, open air, honest tasty food and friendly service at Thai prices. The smoothies and shakes are very welcome refreshments too.
An additional attraction to this place is the way it will accommodate those trying to get through a meal with young children, as we experienced!!! There is a toy area and colouring table, and the owner Weena and her daughter Jenny were so happy to play along when they weren't too busy.
I have added photos of the menu with their permission since they are not listed anywhere and otherwise depend on people actually exploring out of the hotel.
When staying in a resort like the Marriott I find it handy to have something like this next door, so hopefully helpful to see the menu.
We ordered phad thai, a fried rice dish and papaya salad. All great. The papaya salad was especially good.
Finally - wine is very well priced for Thailand if you are hankering for a glass and not being overly picky about it. Basically house red and house white.
All this with a very warm welcome from Weena and Jenny. Very good command of English from this mum and daughter team.
Take the 5 min walk and give it a try for a relaxing...
Read moreOH MY GOSH. 10/10 Restaurant, if I could rate this a michelin star restaurant, i would rate it as michelin without hesitation. I have been coming here ever since I was a kid, I would come here every year. Madam Weena, her daughter, and her daughter daughter always recognizes us every year. And the food, oh my god, I cant describe how good it is. I highly recommend the Sea bass in red curry, Yellow curry with squid, sea food fried rice, spring rolls, minced pork with basil, and basically everything on the menu. Me and my family know the menu so well, that we dont need to look at it, we just remember it, because we have been coming here for so long and when we do come here, we come here almost every day. The food never misses. But if you come here, dont get impatient, there is a very sweet nice lady cooking the food alone in that kitchen for all her customers. So if you have patience, I promis you, you will be rewarded with the most delicious food ever. And, if you want a nice, sweet, sour, refeshing drink, highly recommend like soda, fricking amazing. And the atmosphere, is so homey, and I love a local atmosphere. And the service is so amazing. They treat you so well, welcome you and say goodbye so politely. And sometimes, you get some delicious fruit after your meal. The family treats you so well, like your one of their own. So if you ever see the restaurant, I highly recommend to come here. If I could go to this restaurant every...
