Chill Inn Lipanoi Hostel and Beach Cafe — Restaurant in Surat Thani Province

We stumbled across this place on a walk with our kids on the beach. The view from the tables is calm and relaxing. The trees perfectly frame the beautiful view, the decor is classy but comfortable, a carefully selected mix of Thai style wooden accents with a modern feel.

Whoever has designed this place has a great grasp of how to beautifully blend the elements of everything you love about Thailand, with everything you love from home.

They’ve really done a great job and the customers were a lovely mix of locals and tourists.

The staff were friendly. Attentive and Helpful.

The menu was surprisingly reasonably (mid) priced - (we thought it would be more pricey).

Great bento box style options for the kids, allowing us to order one dish that had 4 side options for the girls who swing between wanting fries and being adventurous and trying new food. There’s 8 different bento options - by far the best kids menu we have come across in our travels.

The fried chicken wings were super tasty. Fried rice was more Chinese style than a Thai but delicious and not too oily. Crab papaya salad delicious. Spicy, and well priced for crab. The girls had the carrot juice which came in a trendy little bottle like a hip flask, on a wooden board. Which the girls thought was fantastic. I had the blue pea flower and lemon drink which was very sweet but nice to try something different. The staff were really lovely, showing me pictures of what the flower looks like on their phone and explaining more about it to me.

We also had 2 cakes, which were tasty, rainbow cake which was a novelty for the girls and the blue pea cake which had a delicious coconut cream flavour to it.

Bonus points for metal straws! Love ! Wish more places on Samui did this.

It was a Saturday night and a band set up whilst we were there. Two Thai musicians, modern easy to listen to music w Thai lyrics, not cheesy, our girls were dancing around loving the music.

I loved everything about my 4 nights here at chill in Lipa Noi and I look forward to coming back here some day. I stayed in the 4 bed mixed dorm and it was clean and very comfortable to sleep in, the bathroom was basic and shared between multiple dorms but I never had to wait long and it was cleaned daily very well (I would still recommend shower sandals because the floor can get dirty throughout the day). The air conditioner worked very well which was great to cool off after spending the day outside. I had some great meals at the cafe/restaurant on the beach. I had a veg/bacon omelette and latte 2 days in a row and fruit for my last morning, everything was incredible with really kind service. The location was amazing for me, beautiful beach right in front of the cafe with lots of places to sit/lounge and I saw people kayaking and paddle-boarding nearby. I absolutely loved relaxing here and its close to many restaurants and stores while still being quiet and peaceful. Can’t recommend enough.

My only wish is for a better common area and fridge for people to store food while staying in the hostel, other than that it...

This hostel has a place for a certain type of person - that being somebody that wants to chill out in a relatively quiet area. It is located well out of the way of everything so a motorbike is a must if you want stuff to do. The beach it is on is lovely and the staff are really good. Although it is ‘beachfront’, most of the rooms are actually over the road, still only a 1 minute walk to the beach. The beach area is really nice, a few beds and seats on the beach to sit on, as well as a chill area just off the beach. The staff are keen to help but we found that tours and transfers were cheaper online. No curtains on the beds so it didn’t feel very private and also security in the rooms over the road was none existent, there is no staff around so anyone could walk into the building if they wanted and there were doors to the rooms directly onto the main road.
