Mom’s kichen — Restaurant in Surat Thani Province

Excellent home cooking local food fresh family operate Delicious cozy friendly place. I had my favorite Southern Dish of Gang Leung PukTai with bamboo shoots(picked from the top of mountain) and tender sweet freshest meatiest snapper(Pla Krapong)-flavor of curry base was full flavors nice spice and fresh of tumeric and lots of herbs;salty-sour precise.. with very well cooked rice and Thai style yummy omelette (the eggs were from their own farm raised free range chickens). I also had appetizers raw prawn with fresh garlic,chilies,cilantro,fish sauce(Koong Chae NamPla). So fresh the raw shrimp and perfect chilie sauce marinate. End with banana fritter and vanilla ice-cream. Khun Ning (daughter of Mom’ and sister -the chefs) is the host in front. She is wonderful and welcoming and caring to all the customers as I was there for a couple of hours. Speaks very good English and very cordial Thai -in persona. The family are working together. I think her dad is also helping in front. Her younger son(darling) comes to say hello and make conversations in baby thai talk. Super adorable. I saw Mom went foraging for herbs and veggies in the tree next to the kitchen. Khun Ning said they use as much ingredients that is home grown. Due to covid they decided to run their home as restaurant and looking to perhaps have thai cooking class in the future. Highly recommend as this place has authentic and fresh made thai southern cooking. Great portion and value for your spending. Support local small business owners. You will get the best. Came here because of the great reviews. I must say, they were all true. The food was AMAZING, the seafood was fresh and abondant in the dishes (which really suprised me). The staff was so welcoming and nice. The price is also very fair. I would love to come back! Ordered a curry and papaya salad. 100% recommend eating here if you are nearby

Edit: I actually did come back the day afterwards, and the owners recognised me and greeted me which was so sweet of them. I really appreciated it. I ordered another curry (green curry this time) and a spicy and sour fried calamari salad based on the owner's recommendations. Again the food was simply fantastic. Definitely a LOT of people’s restaurant of choice when staying near Lipa Noi beach, and definitely mine too. Ate here quite a few times whilst staying at Chill Inn which is just 2 mins walk down the road.

Incredibly good value for money, really friendly and helpful staff, cheapest large Chang found anywhere in Thailand apart from a market and really good quality home cooked Thai food, highly recommended. The Massaman curry, green curry and Pad Thai were all superb!
