Da Mario Samui — Restaurant in Surat Thani Province

When posting a 2-star review about the restaurant, the owner suggested (in Italian as he probably can not write in English) that I do not understand Italian food as I compare it to simple Thai restaurants that serve better "Italian" food and use better ingredients then Da Mario "Italian Restaurant" Rest assured I do know good Italian restaurants and personal friend of 3 chefs who work in Italian 5 Star restaurants. Rest assured the food is the worst experience I ever had and I eat Italian about twice a week not in Thai restaurants of course, The pizza is comparable to what you get in fast Thai Pizza places for 40THB, same ingredients and supposedly Mozzarella cheese... A wonderful Italian restaurant that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone visiting Ko Samui! Mario is not only a warm and welcoming host, but also a truly talented chef who brings the essence of Italy to this breathtaking Thai island. Best dinner in Samui. Being Italian I usually don’t eat at Italian restaurants abroad, but this place is different. The food is great, you can really taste all the ingredients and you are sure they come directly from Italy. My girlfriend and I ate fettuccine with tartare (the fish is fresh) and tonnarelli with nduja (felt like being back in Italy). In addition, Mod (Mario’s wife) welcome you warmly, and Mario, if he is not busy cooking, is happy to share some talk and answer all the questions about his dishes.
