I expected this place to be sooo good based of the other reviews, however I was very disappointed - I did not even finish my food as it was hard to force down - for 150 baht, you should recieve a better toast than what I did.
The scrambled egg toast with sourdough had many pitfalls
While the dish comes with ketchup, ketchup is not a good way to prevent the toast from becoming dry. I am missing salted butter for the bread, proper sourdough bread and overall for the dish to be easy to eat. The dish also came with a dip of some sort, however it did not suit my tastebuds. The salad on the side is okay if you like tomato.
They should also replace their current knives if they are like the one I got, which was not sharp and made it hard to even cut through the bread. When a place looks as beautiful and everything seems thought through, I expect the cutlery to be good too.
On the other hand, the ambience of the cafe is very nice and relaxing, most of the staff were great and friendly. I hope in the future that the food match the beautiful aesthetic of the cafe - easy changes...
Read moreWe visited and had several meals at Ethos Café & Shala in Srithanu during our Koh Phangan stay in late August/early September. All we can say is this: you’ve got to visit it. It’s an awesome place to hang out in the heart of the village. The whole-food menu is thorough enough to cover all tastes and preferences. We’ve had breakfast, brunch and lunch so we tried quite a few dishes, and we were delighted. The relaxed yet bright atmosphere was excellent. Both inside the Café and the outside terrace/garden-faced tables one can enjoy its delicacies. You must try signature dishes such as the homemade ravioli with ricotta, the vegan lasagna or the homemade vegan sweets (especially the banana bread). All were super fresh, tasty and delicious. Luca, the man in charge of Ethos has made it possible that you can be at a place that combines a whole-food café with a Shala where lots of yoga/wellness events happen during the day. Amazing place where you can meet amazing people. Do not miss it if you visit Koh...

The owner is clearly very passionate about the menu and the experience he provides; I've seen him talking to customers about the food and listening carefully to their feedback. Great music, which is rare.
I see some very big bowls going out but other dishes are on the small side, such as cakes and the incredibly tasty purple pancakes; I'm told they are increasing the portion size of the latter.
A fantastic place, highly recommended; my only request would be that they are a little more generous with...
