Fah Sai Restaurant — Restaurant in Surat Thani Province

This was recommended to us by other people staying at The Beach resort. Just a short walk from there to this lovely little roadside restaurant. A little weathered and 'rustic' but some of the best food I had in Thailand. Run by a husband and wife, the husband is very friendly and goes out of his way to make sure the meal is just as you like it. The wife does all the cooking and she really knows how to make the food delicious and authentic. We ate at least four or five times there and would have dined there more if we'd discovered it earlier. There are a few great eating places in the area but this was our favourite for sheer deliciousness.

Very inexpensive and most of our meals included beer, with prices around the 100 to 200 baht range.

The space is very small, open air and not on the beach side of the road. No amazing sunsets here. Can be very hot and they only had a couple of small pedestal fans for cooling.

Well worth a visit for some of the best Thai food you'll get.

This is a real taste of Thailand. Small out of the way restaurant that you miss when you first walk past. Limited menu of local dishes. This was the best food we had in town all week. I had a starter of theTim Yum soup. Huge bowl, lots of taste and spice, and seven (7) prawns. Better than most restaurants. The Penang Curry Chicken was rich and delicious, with a lovely depth of flavor and more meat that any other dish we have had on the island. The Green Curry Pork is the best green curry I have even had in Koh Samui (and I’ve had a lot). The chef was generous in ingredients, spice and taste. We both left incredibly satisfied, and the whole lot, Including 2 steamed rice was less that 400Bht. Don’t get be wrong, this is not fine dining. This is a few rickety bamboo chairs next to an old shop with a kitchen out back. It has no views. But I would come back any time and...

Great meal at Fah Sai, an unassuming place you might miss first drive by.Turn around, you don’t want to miss their food and then go park in the back. Fast, very friendly service and amply portioned, delicious Thai food await you!

Absolutely the BEST green curry we’ve had on Koh Samui! The Papaya salad and warm glass noodle salad were very good and had well balanced flavor profiles worth coming back for, but that green curry stole show! Fish sauce with Thai chilis for our papaya salad was one of the best we’ve had around too.
