Jumpow Kitchen — Restaurant in Surat Thani Province

We were taken here as the last stop of a tour promising a „sunset beach dinner“. We had seen the „beach“ the day before, it was just an ugly and dirty strip of mud along the way the boats go to the pier.

The dinner consisted of a choice of chicken or pork „with garlic“, and a bowl of steamed rice, nothing else. We chose to eat almost nothing of it.

Water was free, the beer was warm, even warmer than usual, served without a smile.

Fortunately we had ordered a shrimp Tom Ka Gai soup (it arrived at the same time, properly warm) (contrary to the „main course“). The soup was good but came with the shrimp heads in the soup, each of which let out an ugly brownish liquid whose source I preferred not to imagine …

That part of the tour was a ridiculous disaster, and I wouldn’t go to that restaurant again, we ate a lot better in all the other places we were during our stay...

We were a party of four, two couples, for an evening drink and meals. It is a wonderful setting, right on the beach with a good view of the islands of Koh Taen and Koh Madsum (Piggy Island). There is also plenty see going on with the piers here, with many a tourist boat picking up and dropping back their passengers. There is both seating inside and outside, and we were able to view the sunset from our table outside on the beach, and the constant breeze really made the evening delightful! The restaurant is clean and very well run, with good attentive staff who have an acceptable level of English. Today, I will collect the best star rated restaurants on Samui Island. This is one I have tried. Another restaurant is called Krua Chum Pao. And fresh food. It tastes good, including rich seafood. We recommend a large plate of Fried Rice and seafood Hot and sour soup, which can be made with lemon. I am glad to return to Sumy Island this time.
