Jin's bar & restaurant — Restaurant in Surat Thani Province

What a lovely surprise Jin Restaurant was. We stayed at Paradise Beach Resort close by 5mins walk. When you walk down the lane from Hotel to Jins, it's nothing special but realise you are entering from the back! The front of restaurant is connected from main Maenam main road via another small road. Food and service was excellent. The chef spoke very good English and was able to cater for wife who was vegetarian, checking with her every course to make sure didn't contain fish sauce or eggs. She had the best authentic vegetarian green curry. Had a lovely Chicken Massaman and also King Prawn fried rice. Coconut milkshakes were lovely. The desserts, banana samosa and ice cream on roti we hadn't seen anywhere in Koh Samui and were so delicious. I couldn’t stress enough how beautiful and amazing this place is. Starting from the place itself, this is a wonderful restaurant to spend a good lazy lunch, chatting with Jin about life and local recommendations, interacting with the (at the moment) four cats, and just watching the clouds go by—at night it’s certainly the best veranda quiet vibes. Now the food, we tried two items from their menu, the papaya salad and (of course) the Pad thai, and boy did they hit the spot. Delicious, robust flavors, with such stunning textured noodles.

This is the place to go for terrific Thai food in a quiet setting. It's down a lane near the Explorar hotel and the setting is semi open air. The staff are SO kind and welcoming and the owner speaks excellent English. She was happy to make me a vegetarian Thai green curry that was spicy enough to get my endorphins rushing! The first few mouthfuls were SERIOUSLY hot but I adjusted after a while and the rest of the dish was awesome.
