Mom’s Kitchen เจ๊อิ๋วอาหารตามสั่ง — Restaurant in Surat Thani Province

I was ready to give this spot a 4-5 star rating despite being very slow. Great food takes time so I didn’t really mind the wait. The Tom Yum Goong was excellent.

However this place is getting an instant one star because of an unprovoked act of animal abuse by kitchen staff member. A street dog was napping under a table not bothering anyone in the slightest. The staff member was shooing out the dog to leave. The dog got up and was leaving without any fuss. Out of nowhere and without any provocation the staff member kicked the dog hard enough that it yelped in pain and startled people in the restaurant. An absolute dirtbag move by a sad and pathetic human. It was shocking.

I really don’t like one starring places that otherwise deserve high marks but there’s a line when it comes to...

Hands down best food we had in Samui, these guys make such amazing authentic Thai dishes, tastes are absolutely on point. Can take a short while for food to be prepared, but fully worth the wait. We went 3 times in total, and on the last managed to get 2 crispy pork dishes before they ran out for the day. Each time we were more impressed than the last! It’s a bit of a hole in the wall but if you’re in the search for good food you will absolutely find it here. Crispy pork, paneng, pad Thai, massaman were all highlights, and if I was going to search hard for a criticism I’d say maybe not enough seafood in the seafood dishes, but still worth it...

GO HERE! Been traveling Thailand 2 months and this will be some of the best meals I had in all of Southeast Asia . I had Penang curry, green curry and shrimp basil stirfry and all of them were the best versions I’ve had of those dishes in months of being here.

A local that was from here told me they have it multiple times a week and that they have tried these same dishes at Michelin star restaurants, and it is not as good as this place.

Michelin is sleeping on this one five stars wish I could give them 10
