🇬🇧Brits, if you’re feeling homesick, don’t hesitate to visit and soothe your heart with some comforting food.
🐶It’s dog-friendly, but be aware there are neighborhood dogs in front of the pub, so if your dog is nervous around other dogs, take caution.
I never realized how much I missed British food until I went to Shakespeare.
🥧 We’ve been twice, and both times we ordered the Minced Beef Pie with Mash & Gravy.
The gravy is seasoned perfectly, and the mash has a soft, creamy flavor—almost like it’s made with milk. It’s delicious!
And the pie? It’s insanely good. The seasoning is spot on. Every time I took a bite, I was almost angry—angry that I can’t eat this more often! Haha.
💯Everything we ordered has been a hit:
• Minced Beef Pie with Mash & Gravy • Bangers & Mash with Onion Gravy • Fish ‘n’ Chips with Mushy Peas • “Kebab House Style” Lamb Doner Kebab served with Chips
The atmosphere is fantastic, too. Every piece of decor in the pub feels like a carefully selected item with meaning behind it.
They also offer takeout, though I’m not sure about delivery.
➕Oh, and if you’re not quite ready to leave, grab some Real British Crumpets to take home. They’re frozen, so you can thaw them out and...
Read moreFirst of all.....this is a review in 2 parts. Initially my mum, my partner and myself went for the Sunday roast, the warm welcome began when my mum was brought up the last of the steep hill on a scooter (she is 82!) A warm welcome within, we ordered drinks and a roast chicken dinner, which when it came was amazing. Unfortunately we didn't get to finish it as my mum took a sudden bad turn, and at this point Joe and the staff and customers jumped into action to help us get an ambulance right away, gave immediate first aid and were reassuring and supportive every step of the way. Apologies that we didn't get everyones names given the stress we were under. But special thanks to Beth, the nurse from Helensburgh, who helped us communicate with ambulance staff, kept me calm and recommended the right hospital for mum. Also a thanks to John from Edinburgh who took my partner on the back of his bike to get my mum's passport then brought him to the hospital. Without your support and help it may have been a different outcome! We did intend to come back out to express our thanks in person but we will definitely return on our next visit. The kindness of strangers is a humbling...
Read moreI just left this restaurant after a two and a half hour fiasco that resulted in zero roast dinner. My fiance and I arrived at 5pm and ordered some drinks and an order of French fries to start. When the waitress returned after some time with the fries, we were disappointed to learn the roast beef was sold out, but we settled for ordering the roast chicken; or so we thought. After about an hour of watching other tables receiving their dinner we asked an older teenager who was working at the bar if our dinner was still coming and after some more waiting he came back and assured us that it was and that the kitchen was busy. After another eon and two and a half hours into the ordeal, the original waitress returned and asked if we wanted to order food. I cleared our tab and went looking for someone who could actually feed us. Put a smoking hole in our evening as we were planning on visiting Fisherman's Village for shopping but ran out of time just trying to find a...
