I ordered Somtam spicy papaya salad and was actually asked how spicy which makes a refreshing change. I opted for chicken Massaman and a side order of rice to accompany it. I've been fortunate enough to eat Somtam all over Thailand and this was definitely in the top three. You will not be disappointed if you order it! The Massaman chicken was delightful, probably a little thinner consistency than I'm used to but full of flavour with soft potatoes. I wish I'd had room for other dishes but hopefully next time. Despite being the only diner I was treated very well. Somtam, chicken Massaman, rice and a bottle of Chang came to 320 THB which I think is good value, considering the quality of food. We always make it a point to revisit Chang Yes when back on the island, and Yai never disappoints! Be sure to ask for his daily specials though. The busy chef sometimes forgets the A-board!
Daily specials: snow fish steak and flank steak block Australian beef with mushy mash and peas, traditional Esarn dip, tzatziki, and sea salt. They don't have it often but we got lucky. Both were to die for - the best snow fish I've ever had!
