Last weekend, I had the pleasure of dining at Sale e Pepe, an authentic Italian restaurant on the beautiful island of Koh Chang. From the moment we stepped inside, we were transported to Italy, thanks to the warm, rustic ambiance and the tantalizing aromas wafting from the open kitchen.
The staff at Sale e Pepe were attentive and friendly, providing excellent service throughout our meal. We were particularly impressed by their knowledge of the menu and their genuine enthusiasm for the dishes they recommended.
We began our culinary journey with an exquisite antipasto platter, featuring a variety of Southern Italian cured meats. Each component was bursting with flavor and left us eager for more.
For our main courses, we opted for the pasta vongolle and a parma ham pizza, which were both superb. The pasta was rich, a lot of clams. The parma ham was cooked to perfection. The generous portions and ingredients were fresh and succulent.
Overall, Sale e Pepe Koh Chang is a hidden gem that should not be missed by anyone visiting the island. Their dedication to quality ingredients, expertly prepared dishes, and exceptional service make it a dining experience that is truly unforgettable. I cannot wait to return and explore more of their extensive menu. Highly...
Read moreAlright, so I'm in Koh Chang, Thailand, and everyone's talking about this place, Sale e Pepe. I had to check it out.
The Spot: It's got a chill vibe, not a dump. Seems like they care about what they're doing.
The Pizza: Went with the Spicy Salami with Smoked Cheese. One bite, I knew this wasn't your typical tourist trap pizza. The crust has the right crisp. Sauce tastes like real tomatoes. The salami? Actually spicy. And that smoked cheese adds something special.
The Problem: Look, I've had a lot of pizza. I know what's good. This place? It's different. It needs a new scale.
So, I'm calling it the "Pizzaverse Quotient" – or PQ. It's about more than just taste. It's about authenticity, quality ingredients, and that certain je ne sais quoi.
Sale e Pepe? Spicy Salami with Smoked Cheese? It gets a PQ of 9.8.
The Verdict: This isn't just good pizza; it's an experience. If you're on Koh Chang, you...
Read moreService was a bit weird! Waitress was addressing my boyfriend whilst almost ignoring my existence entirely. Even when I asked to pay in the end (it was my treat), she felt the need to check with my boyfriend whether he wanted the bill? Whoever trains the staff at this place: it's not the 1950s, or at the very worst, not every mixed race couple is of whatever preconceived notion. I speak Thai, German and English fluently (not a matter of language barrier) and was a paying customer. Only my white boyfriend was treated as a paying customer. Not ok. We are both in our 20s and not a boomer couple.
In regards to food: the special laab pizza is different, unique and yummy! (the more familiar tom yum pizza was sold out) And the meat lover pizza was ok.
Dough was good, ingredients were good quality. Size of pizza is huge, one might be enough...
