Centara Udon — Restaurant in Udon Thani Province

I decided to move from my condo to Centara because I thought it might be a nice change and an upgrade. So the first thing you want to do is be very careful because their website is set up as a classic bait and switch as far as pricing they represent one price which is lower as a member. I signed up as a member spent an hour and a half checking in. The front desk did not want to honor their membership pricing as shown on their website. I had to show them the photo screenshot of the pricing and after an hour and a half of going back-and-forth the front desk made an adjustment to the price to honor their website pricing. I don’t need the money it’s just a point that if you advertise a price it should be what it is advertised for. I received a call to my room the next morning. The manager said that the front desk clerk should not have honor the price and that they’re going to dock his pay for it which I think is outrageous. So apparently the hotel needs the money so bad they’re going to dock the pay of an hourly employee. Disgraceful. That aside the hotel is clean. However there is construction going on so at 8:30 in the morning you’ll hear nail guns going and circular saws running. The way the rooms are set up they are in penitentiary mezzanine style So when you were making noise in any one of the rooms on all 10 floors everyone else can hear echoing through the mezzanine. The staff was nice, respectful and pleasant. And one more surprise after checking in they asked for an additional 800 baht per day deposit as well. I travel the world 8 months of the year and in most hotels they will take no more than 1000 baht for the entire stay ….. so again that’s par for the course with Centara. The rooms are basic, a little stark and bare. The floors are manufactured wood which gives it a cheaper feel and less feeling of privacy. The bed was ok not really up to standard but ..ok .

The Internet didn’t work for my laptop in the room. They sent 2 technicians up to the room to attempt to fix it. After 1/2 hour they couldn’t get Internet WiFi to work on my laptop. All combined I wasn’t happy with the place. I decided to leave a day early, I didn’t bother to ask for a days credit back because I assumed they wouldn’t want to give back any and of course they told me they without me asking…. You are leaving a day early we cannot give you any money back haha Also my deposit of 800 baht a day will take 14 days to credited back to me. Apparently the hotel corporation needs the money worse than I do.

I missed my flight and won't be able to check in on time as there's no other flight available so I called the hotel if I could change to another day instead, staff(girl)told me that I should just cancel the booking and make a new one, I have asked her twice if there will be any penalty for that as if I cancel on the day I supposed to check in and she said it is fine, there won't be any fees so I go ahead call Agoda to send the hotel a cancellation request, few hours later it hasn't been cancelled yet so I called Agoda again and explain the whole situation and the conversation I have with staff, then Agoda call the hotel and told me there was a male staff told them that I can't cancel the booking, AGAIN I CALLED the hotel and they told me that staff who works for reservation department off work already and they put me in a phone with another staff (a guy) and to be honest I have to explain the whole situation to him like 3 times for him to understand what's going, it was so hard to communicate with him even tho I speak Thai fluently and he literally did nothing but told me "I apologize for the misunderstanding with another staff" okay but will you be responsible for this tho? Like is it so hard to also communicate with your coworker? He just doesn't understand my point at the beginning that I'd like to change the date instead of cancel but it's because another staff that I've spoken to earlier told me to so that's why I sent the cancellation request and he was like yeah but you can not blah blah you can change the date but can't cancel like yea babes I know that, That's why I called since the beginning for alternate dates but your coworker told me to cancel and book another instead, like I have to explain this to him about 3 times I think the he told me I can change the date but I have to call Agoda to send email to them, then AGAIN I called Agoda and told them about that and they said they have to call the hotel first, so they put me on hold and back in like 15mins and told me the hotel not allowed them to do that! Like THIS is just ridiculous and waste time and energy by just communicating with hotel staff that have absolutely no intention to work, lack of experience and communication skills. Agoda team was super helpful to be fair but just the hotel's staff.... I've stayed at Centara so many times in other city and THIS is the worst customer service I've ever experienced! I think his name was JoJo or something...
