Upon entering the café, we were greeted by a friendly server who guided us to the terrace upstairs. We placed our order, which included a milkshake, a smoothie, and a tiramisu, along with a hookah to enjoy. The milkshake was decent, but unfortunately, the smoothie was undrinkable. Thankfully, the tiramisu was delightful.
Regrettably, our most disappointing experience revolved around the hookah. Within the first 5 minutes of receiving it, we noticed a burnt taste. We alerted the server, and he mentioned he would fetch a colleague. However, it took a full 10 minutes for the colleague to arrive and inspect the hookah. They replaced the coals and attempted to improve the flavor, but we still detected the burnt taste. We reiterated that we had contacted the server within the initial 5 minutes of receiving the hookah, which the colleague acknowledged.
Unfortunately, the hookah was eventually removed from our table without a replacement, leaving us with an unpleasant experience. All in all, it was a disappointing visit, and it will be our first and last time at this café. We cannot recommend...
Read moreAfter trying a few “famous” spots in Djerba (looking at you, El Fondouk and El Majlis 🙃), Gaia was like a breath of fresh air. From the moment we walked in, the staff were warm, welcoming, and actually seemed happy to see us — which already put them miles ahead of some other places.
We ended up coming back four times during our trip, just to try different dishes, and every single meal was spot-on. Fresh ingredients, beautifully presented, and full of flavor — you can tell they actually care about what they’re serving.
The vibe is relaxed but stylish, the service is genuinely friendly (not the fake “smile for the tip” kind), and everything just feels effortlessly well done. After a few disappointing restaurant experiences on the island, Gaia completely redeemed our Djerba dining adventures.

Read moreI usually come to this place for lunch or dinner, and I’ve liked it especially the burgers, which are really good. But after today’s breakfast, I’m honestly very disappointed. They brought us citronade with a hair in it, and there was also hair in the salami. The hummus didn’t taste like hummus at all it seemed like they mixed in mayonnaise or something similar, so it was really far from authentic. The French toast was raw inside, not properly cooked. Also, the serving table has definitely seen better days it’s really time to replace it!! It’s a shame, because I’ve enjoyed their pasta and burgers, but the breakfast was terrible. Unfortunately, this was my first and last time trying breakfast here. I really hope they make some...
