New review: We decided to go here for yet another birthday celebration. Sadly despite having a reservation they made us wait in the bar area for 35 minutes after which we were taken to our table. This was only made possible by asking them several times. This is a big turnoff because it was almost 10 pm by the time we got to the table. The waiter was very interesting. He just didn't seem to want to serve us. We asked for the menu and then ordered some starters, sushi and main course dishes. The vegetarian starter arrived fast but the sushi just didn't come. We waited 45 minutes for it. I wish the waiter could have told us this. That's what you would expect from professional service. So right before the sushi came we told the waiter that we didn't want to order the main course anymore because it was almost 11pm. This just made the waiter really upset and he started giving us a cold shoulder. So we ordered a few starters because it was late. I also ordered a cocktail which arrived shortly We asked for water four times! At the end we got some dessert which was fine. In general, the Sushi and the desserts tasted nice but the service was terrible. We didn't expect such an attitude from a high-caliber (!) Restaurant like this. We were extremely disappointed, and felt very unsatisfied. It felt like the waiters and the staff are more interested in serving foreigners who they think will leave them big tips. The service made us question our desire to visit this place ever again. The younger staff are nicer and kinder. It is extremely expensive and you don't get the same service quality you would get from places that are cheaper and have better scenery. Also, charging a huge service fee per person is not professional at all. My original 5-star review I wrote a year ago is below: "Sunset Grill & Bar is an amazing place to visit to get some nice cocktails and good sea food. They also have some sushi on offer. The waiters are kind and helpful. The atmosphere is one of the greatest with a beautiful view of the Bosphorus. Make sure you get a table by the edge. The only downside was, even though we had a reservation, we had to wait 45 minutes at the bar as people were not leaving their tables. It seems like they need to manage this in a better way, or they need to find ways to compensate it."

We visited this restaurant for the second time with my boyfriend, exactly a year after our first visit. Last June, 2023, we went to admire the sunset. The restaurant is very expensive, with an incredible view of the Bosphorus, which is especially beautiful in the evenings. The food, drinks, and service were all excellent. However, we were very disappointed by an upsetting experience: it turns out that waiters may sometimes try to cheat guests on the amount of alcohol consumed. I had two glasses of prosecco (I never drink more), and my boyfriend had eight. We were keeping track of the drinks, but at the end of the evening, we noticed that four extra glasses of prosecco were added to our bill — which we never ordered or consumed. It seemed that the waiter thought we wouldn't notice, assuming we weren't paying attention to the details. It’s a place where wealthy people often dine, and it felt like they might be used to overcharging. We called the manager over to explain the situation, but she insisted that my boyfriend had indeed drunk twelve glasses of prosecco. It was impossible to drink that much in just two hours, with slow service and multiple courses. The whole experience left a bad taste, even though we didn't make a scene and paid the bill. The next morning, a local resident at our hotel (we stayed at the Hyatt) told us that this restaurant is notorious for overcharging guests. It’s unfortunate because the restaurant has a lot of potential, but this kind of dishonest practice really tarnished the experience. If you decide to visit, be vigilant and keep track of your drinks.

One that goes to this restaurant needs to be careful, there is a trap if you dont read the mini sentence at the bottome of the menu which is all in mini letters.unfortunately it happened to us.No matter what you ordered you will be charged extra, I am a regular visitor to Istanbul, the food was average,we had an issue with the bill, we were charged for bread that we did not order, $30 another $10 for ginger lool they also charge you per person $20 they also charge %15 on every order lool they gave us a bill of $800 for sushi set with 3 starters, and couple of drinks while the food we ordered was not up to 400 dollars we were 2 couples. When we called the manager to complain, we needed to understand why the difference in bill, between whats on the menu and what was billed, they were aggressive, and like you paid you can leave,they told us you think you cam to mac Donald's imagine a Michelin star response lool we left quietly because we felt we were gone get beaten,the guy that parks our car also demanded $25 as valet charge and its not written any were. This restaurant has no manners, no shame, its a place were they rip you off and kick you out because you are a tourist

As a dedicated gourmet who has been visiting Sunset Grill Istanbul for years, I can attest to its enduring excellence. Despite having lived outside Turkey for the past 11 years, my return visits to this restaurant have always been a highlight. The recent experience was no exception. The octopus, served with sweet potato purée, olives, and lemon, was impeccable. The octopus was tender and well-seasoned, and the sweet potato purée provided a smooth, rich base that perfectly complemented the dish’s briny accents. The T-bone steak was a masterclass in perfection. Juicy and flavorful with a perfectly charred exterior, it continues to be one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Each bite was a reminder of the restaurant’s unwavering commitment to quality. To finish, the chocolate soufflé was simply divine—light, airy, and rich with a molten center that was the ideal end to a superb meal. The restaurant’s exceptional view only enhances the experience, making each visit feel special. Sunset Grill Istanbul consistently delivers outstanding dishes and an unforgettable ambiance, proving that its fabulous reputation remains well-deserved, even after all these years
