I recently dined at Fokai Restaurant in Foça, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. The restaurant itself is charming, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements the seaside setting. Every dish I tried was absolutely delicious, showcasing the freshness and quality of the ingredients.
The star of the meal was undoubtedly the barbun (red mullet). It was cooked to perfection, full of flavour, and very well-priced, making it an excellent choice for those looking to enjoy seafood without breaking the bank. The mezes were equally impressive, offering a delightful variety of tastes and textures. The octopus was tender and flavourful, while the artichoke (enginar) and shrimp were simply wonderful.
One dish that truly stood out was the semizotu with yoghurt, (watercress). It was, without a doubt, the best I’ve ever had in my life. The freshness of this simple yet delightful dish were remarkable.
Lastly, a special mention must go to the staff. They were exceptional, providing attentive and friendly service that made the whole dining experience feel effortless. I know that delivering such seamless service requires a lot of hard work, and the team at Fokai made it look easy.

Very rude staff, overpriced and a complete lack of respect and manners in what ought. We had just started eating when a Turkish couple sat down besides us and started heavily smoking. When my girlfriend politely said (in turkish) that it was blowing in her face and food they were extremely rude and aggressive, asserting that their right to smoke was greater than our right to clean, non-cancerous air and shouted at her that they refused to change and would smoke continuisly the whole evenjng. The head waiter came over and made no attempt to smooth the situarion over, telling us we must move inside to next to the fish counter, even though the other couple had just arrived and we were settled with food. He very quickly became very rude with no apology, no grace, no help. We announced we would leave and were rudely given a hefty bill for a few starters in illegible handwriting and a figure that seemed inflated. They don’t approach often but the frequency is ok. The mezes are delicious. Seabass marine was amazing; sour and with a delicious olive oil. Glasswort is one of the “hard to cook mezes” of all and they nailed it with the perfect ratio of lemon and garlic and olive oil. And the Aegean humus that contains almond was hard to forget. Even the melon they served was delicious; they have choose not eh right one:) I think the bread could be better; the first thing they need to improve. Most importantly, the music volume is not so high; people voices that raise from their conversations blend with the low volume music and create good & cheerful atmosphere.
