We had been meaning to visit this place for a while, especially my wife, who had her eye on it for some time. We finally made a booking and chose to go on a weekday evening to avoid the weekend crowd. The reservation process was smooth, and I appreciated the confirmation message they sent on the day of our visit, which also asked about dietary restrictions: a thoughtful and professional gesture.

Getting to the restaurant was straightforward, but the parking situation was a little unclear. Although there were spaces, most seemed blocked or reserved, and I couldn’t spot any valet service even though I assume it’s usually available. I ended up parking where I could and we walked a short distance to the entrance.

Upon arrival, we were welcomed warmly by the host, who was friendly and professional. The interior of the restaurant was truly impressive. It features high ceilings, large glass windows that let in soft, natural light, and a beautifully designed wooden structure at the centre of the space that adds elegance and character. Still, I was slightly disappointed by the table we were first offered, it felt oddly tucked away, especially given that there were only one or two other couples at the time. We asked to move and were able to sit by the window, which was much nicer in terms of sunlight and mood. That said, the view outside wasn’t particularly inspiring. It’s mostly the parking area with some greenery, but the plants looked tired and neglected. I don’t know if the landscaping falls under the restaurant’s responsibility or the building’s, but for such a refined place, more care in selecting and maintaining the greenery would make a big difference. Even the windows themselves could have used a more thorough cleaning.

The service throughout the evening was generally helpful. Our server made some good suggestions and explained the menu clearly. However, at times it was a bit difficult to get someone’s attention even though the restaurant wasn’t full. It wasn’t a huge issue, but in a setting like this, I expected a bit more attentiveness.

As the evening went on, more tables filled and the energy of the space shifted a bit. A few guests nearby were speaking quite loudly; not something the restaurant can control, of course, but in a space that feels intimate and calm, it was a little jarring. The background music, however, helped balance things out. It was subtle, tasteful and well chosen.

The food was enjoyable and beautifully presented. We ordered a good variety of dishes and each had its strengths. The Humus was especially good; creamy and perfectly seasoned. The Seraf İçli Köfte was rich and balanced, and the Soğan Dolması was delicately done. We also enjoyed the Keşkek and the Bostana, both refreshing and full of flavour. For mains, we had the Lokum Şiş and the Fırında Tavuk. The portions were smaller than typical portions elsewhere, but surprisingly filling due to how well-crafted and satisfying they were. We also tried two non-alcoholic cocktails: Virgin Passion and Virgin Papatya, and both were genuinely delicious, not overly sweet, and thoughtfully composed.

The total bill was a little high but fair considering the setting, service and overall quality. It’s not somewhere I would return to regularly, but I’m glad we went. The space was clean and elegant, the design unique, and the experience...

I have been going to Seraf Mahmutbey, which in my opinion is one of the best representatives of Anatolian cuisine in Istanbul, for years now. The vision and meticulousness of its founder Doğan Bey, the healthy (note that no food is fried and only extra virgin olive oil/ quality butter is used in the kitchen here) food prepared with love by the always positive and now famous chef Sinem Özler, the quality of the products that they use and the consistency of the food served resulted in Seraf Mahmutbey being listed in the Michelin Guide in 2022. At Seraf Mahmutbey, you can eat not only the best of Anatolian dishes, but also the best of lamb, which is used extensively in Turkey, much more than beef.

Seraf Vadi, their second restaurant which opened in April, came with a gorgeous decoration and atmosphere, some very special dishes that were not served in their first restaurant, and an excellent cocktail/local and international wine menu on top of what they already offer at their first restaurant in Mahmutbey. In my opinion, Seraf Vadi is now easily one of the best restaurants, if not the best, serving Anatolian/Turkish cuisine in Turkey. Bugün, ailecek gittiğimiz Seraf Vadi deneyimimizden bahsetmek istiyorum (işbirliği veya davet değil, masraflar tamamen bize ait). Online rezervasyon yaptırdıktan sonra teyit için arandık ve rezervasyonumuzu tamamladık. Konum olarak Vadistanbul’daki Liv Hastanesi'nin hemen karşısında yer alıyor, vale hizmeti de mevcut. Mekana girdiğimiz andan itibaren çok ilgili ve nazik bir servisle karşılaştık. İlk başta oturduğumuz masanın koltuk kısmı biraz alçak olduğu için annem ve babam rahat edemedi. Önce minder getirdiler, fakat hala rahat edemediğimizi görünce, bizim talebimiz olmadan sadece sandalyeli başka bir masaya hızlıca geçişimizi sağladılar. Eylül 2024 fiyatlarıyla birlikte yemek menülerinin görsellerini ekliyorum. Farklı lezzetlerini denemek istediğimiz için kendimize bir liste oluşturmuştuk, fakat listedeki çoğu şeyin Tadım Menü'de olduğunu görünce onu denemeye karar verdik. Tadım Menü'nün menüde yazan güncel içeriği şu şekilde: Şefin Zeytinyağlı Seçkisi (paylaşımlık 3 çeşit), Bostana Salatası, Soğan Dolması, Seraf İçli Köfte, Tadım Keşkek, Saray Mutfağından Zirva, Mardin Kebabı, Üçlü Tadım Tatlısı (Kişi başı 2500TL. Şarap eşlemesi eklemek isterseniz kişi başı 3 kadeh 1600TL daha ekleniyor). Biz Seraf Lahmacun'u ve Firik Pilavı merak ettiğimiz için ek olarak onları da söyledik. Masaya öncelikle zeytinyağlı susamlı sürmelik peynir ve ekmekler geldi (detayını kaçırdım, servis ettikleri sırada orada değildim). Ekmekler de peynir de leziz. Masaya önce susamlı sürmelik peynir ve ekmekler geldi (servis edilirken masada değildim, o yüzden detayını kaçırdım). Hem ekmekler hem de peynir çok lezzetliydi. Şefin Zeytinyağlı Seçkisi'nden enginar, humus ve imambayıldı aynı anda servis edildi, yanında sarımsaklı zeytinyağlı incecik, çıtır ekmekler vardı. Soğan dolması da bu aşamada masamıza ulaştı. Erkek arkadaşım sonunda bu kadar farklı zeytinyağlıyı bir arada görmüş oldu, çok da beğendi! Soğan dolması benim, imambayıldı ise annemin favorisi oldu. Humusa eklenen çıtır nohut parçaları çok hoştu, hem doku hem lezzet olarak çok hoşuma gidiyor humustaki çıtır nohutlar. Haşlanmış içli köfte ise enfesti! Tadım Menü'ye ek olarak söylediğimiz lahmacunu da çok beğendim ama menü o kadar doyurucuydu ki ekstra bir şey söylemeye pek gerek yokmuş😄 Tadım Keşkek, mutlaka denemeniz gereken bir lezzet, harikaydı... Keşkek mükemmel bir dokudaydı, lezzeti ise inanılmaz. Odun ateşinde pişen kuzu incik ağızda dağılıyordu, müthiş bir tadı var, o ete doyamadım desem yeridir. Mardin kebabı da kuzu etinden yapılmış, ağızda dağılan yapıda, acısı yerinde ve taze lavaşla servis ediliyor. Saray Mutfağı’ndan Zirva ise yine odun ateşinde pişen kuzu kol, içinde kuru incir, gün kurusu kayısı, kavrulmuş badem ve soğan var. Etle tatlı sos sevenlerin bayılacağı bir tat. Ben de çok beğendim ama aklım hala keşkeğin üzerindeki kuzu incikteydi... Ve tabii gecemizi Üçlü Tadım Tatlısı ile sonlandırdık: İncir uyutması, irmik helvası ve fırın sütlaç. Un helvası varken irmik helvasına asla bakmayacak biri olarak (ağır tatlı insanıyım🫠) Seraf'ın irmik helvasına bayıldım! Kokusundan anladığım üzere normal tereyağı değil, browned butter kullanarak yapıyorlar, harika bir kokusu ve lezzeti vardı. Sütlaç ve incir uyutma da güzeldi ama irmik helvası bi başka, eğer tadım menüsü almayacaksanız mutlaka söyleyin derim. %12 servis ücretini kendilerinin adisyona eklediğini unutmayın. Tadım menüsü oldukça doyurucu ve lezzetli bir tercih oldu, buna rağmen ek olarak lahmacun ve firik pilavı sipariş ettiğimize bi tık pişmanız çünkü günün sonunda tokluktan çatlamak üzereydik 😃 Her şeyden memnun kaldığımız güzel bir fine dining deneyimi oldu benim için Seraf Vadi, umarım siz de beğenirsiniz!

Bugün, ailecek gittiğimiz Seraf Vadi deneyimimizden bahsetmek istiyorum (işbirliği veya davet değil, masraflar tamamen bize ait). Online rezervasyon yaptırdıktan sonra teyit için arandık ve rezervasyonumuzu tamamladık. Konum olarak Vadistanbul’daki Liv Hastanesi'nin hemen karşısında yer alıyor, vale hizmeti de mevcut. Mekana girdiğimiz andan itibaren çok ilgili ve nazik bir servisle karşılaştık. İlk başta oturduğumuz masanın koltuk kısmı biraz alçak olduğu için annem ve babam rahat edemedi. Önce minder getirdiler, fakat hala rahat edemediğimizi görünce, bizim talebimiz olmadan sadece sandalyeli başka bir masaya hızlıca geçişimizi sağladılar. Eylül 2024 fiyatlarıyla birlikte yemek menülerinin görsellerini ekliyorum. Farklı lezzetlerini denemek istediğimiz için kendimize bir liste oluşturmuştuk, fakat listedeki çoğu şeyin Tadım Menü'de olduğunu görünce onu denemeye karar verdik. Tadım Menü'nün menüde yazan güncel içeriği şu şekilde: Şefin Zeytinyağlı Seçkisi (paylaşımlık 3 çeşit), Bostana Salatası, Soğan Dolması, Seraf İçli Köfte, Tadım Keşkek, Saray Mutfağından Zirva, Mardin Kebabı, Üçlü Tadım Tatlısı (Kişi başı 2500TL. Şarap eşlemesi eklemek isterseniz kişi başı 3 kadeh 1600TL daha ekleniyor). Biz Seraf Lahmacun'u ve Firik Pilavı merak ettiğimiz için ek olarak onları da söyledik. Masaya öncelikle zeytinyağlı susamlı sürmelik peynir ve ekmekler geldi (detayını kaçırdım, servis ettikleri sırada orada değildim). Ekmekler de peynir de leziz. Şefin Zeytinyağlı Seçkisi'nden enginar, humus ve imambayıldı aynı anda servis edildi, yanında sarımsaklı zeytinyağlı incecik, çıtır ekmekler vardı. Soğan dolması da bu aşamada masamıza ulaştı. Erkek arkadaşım sonunda bu kadar farklı zeytinyağlıyı bir arada görmüş oldu, çok da beğendi! Soğan dolması benim, imambayıldı ise annemin favorisi oldu. Humusa eklenen çıtır nohut parçaları çok hoştu, hem doku hem lezzet olarak çok hoşuma gidiyor humustaki çıtır nohutlar. Haşlanmış içli köfte ise enfesti! Tadım Menü'ye ek olarak söylediğimiz lahmacunu da çok beğendim ama menü o kadar doyurucuydu ki ekstra bir şey söylemeye pek gerek yokmuş😄 Tadım Keşkek, mutlaka denemeniz gereken bir lezzet, harikaydı... Keşkek mükemmel bir dokudaydı, lezzeti ise inanılmaz. Odun ateşinde pişen kuzu incik ağızda dağılıyordu, müthiş bir tadı var, o ete doyamadım desem yeridir. Mardin kebabı da kuzu etinden yapılmış, ağızda dağılan yapıda, acısı yerinde ve taze lavaşla servis ediliyor. Saray Mutfağı’ndan Zirva ise yine odun ateşinde pişen kuzu kol, içinde kuru incir, gün kurusu kayısı, kavrulmuş badem ve soğan var. Etle tatlı sos sevenlerin bayılacağı bir tat. Ben de çok beğendim ama aklım hala keşkeğin üzerindeki kuzu incikteydi... Ve tabii gecemizi Üçlü Tadım Tatlısı ile sonlandırdık: İncir uyutması, irmik helvası ve fırın sütlaç. Un helvası varken irmik helvasına asla bakmayacak biri olarak (ağır tatlı insanıyım🫠) Seraf'ın irmik helvasına bayıldım! Kokusundan anladığım üzere normal tereyağı değil, browned butter kullanarak yapıyorlar, harika bir kokusu ve lezzeti vardı. Sütlaç ve incir uyutma da güzeldi ama irmik helvası bi başka, eğer tadım menüsü almayacaksanız mutlaka söyleyin derim. %12 servis ücretini kendilerinin adisyona eklediğini unutmayın. Tadım menüsü oldukça doyurucu ve lezzetli bir tercih oldu, buna rağmen ek olarak lahmacun ve firik pilavı sipariş ettiğimize bi tık pişmanız çünkü günün sonunda tokluktan çatlamak üzereydik 😃 Her şeyden memnun kaldığımız güzel bir fine dining deneyimi oldu benim için Seraf Vadi, umarım siz de beğenirsiniz!
