Read moreWe went for lunch and ordered a “tasting plate” for two. Let's start with the positives: the venue and ambiance are wonderful. The “fişekhane” is already a beautiful place, and this restaurant fits in perfectly with that atmosphere. I would definitely call it a special venue. The welcome is also nice, with a friendly and sincere greeting. The waiters are generally like this, knowledgeable, serious, and professional. However, the same cannot be said for the head waiters, as they occupy a table in the middle of the garden and sit there. The waiters keep coming over to ask them questions, and I find this disturbing in such a special restaurant. Even in neighborhood restaurants, you don't see the restaurant owner or head waiter sitting around doing nothing, so why are they sitting in the area reserved for customers? To me, this is extremely unprofessional and disturbing. As for the taste, yes, it’s definitely good. It’s a unique flavor, and the presentation is also quite good. It could be one of the best places to understand how rich Turkish cuisine is. Considering all these factors, if you ask me whether it's worth the price, I would say yes, it could be. But there's something peculiar about the portions. The “gavurdağı” salad, which is usually served in a certain quantity, comes in a tiny plate here, and you can scoop it onto your plate with a teaspoon, like a children's menu. I find that amusing. When you order a “tasting plate” for two people, for example, you can't get the famous “hamsi köy” rice pudding because the portion of this dessert is also quite large, coming in a huge bowl. We’ve never seen this dessert served this way anywhere else; it’s usually served in a single portion per person, but not here. I think that no matter how many people there are, when you order a “tasting plate,” you should be able to choose the dishes and desserts you want, but you can’t do that here. It was also difficult to eat the two-person tasting menu at a small table; we had trouble finding space at the table. I think a restaurant in this segment could make its guests feel more special; the waitstaff could avoid occupying a table in the guests' area, and guests could feel more free in their menu choices—for example, they wouldn't be forced to eat a small portion of Gavurdağı salad with a dessert spoon. If you have a special meal or a special guest and want to showcase the rich variety of Turkish cuisine and enjoy a beautiful meal, you can...

My visit to Zennup1844 today for a late lunch turned out to be a delightful experience that far exceeded my expectations. Despite the bustling crowd, the level of service we received was nothing short of professional and fast, making us feel both welcomed and well-attended.
Our culinary journey began with the 'Ortadogu Meze', a Middle-Eastern Appetizer ensemble of five seasonal dishes: 'Muhammara', Freekeh 'Cack', Hummus, Lübnan Mezze, and 'Zahter' Salad. Each dish was a masterpiece of flavor, showcasing a harmonious blend of ingredients and spices that transported us to the heart of Middle-Eastern cuisine.
The 'Visneli Yaprak Sarma' was next, a dish that paid homage to Ottoman Palace cuisine with its sour cherry-stuffed vine leaves. The combination of cinnamon, black-currant, nuts, and sour cherry wrapped in well-seasoned vine leaves was both innovative and mouthwatering, demonstrating the chef's prowess in blending traditional recipes with a modern twist.
For main courses, we indulged in the 'Pastirmalı İspir Kuru Fasülyesi' and the 'iç Pilav Kuzu Tandir'. The dried beans with lamb shank, slow-cooked in a copper pot, was a comforting dish with layers of flavor, enhanced by the rich texture of pastrami. Meanwhile, the seasoned rice & lamb tandoori was a revelation – the slow-roasted lamb tandoori, complemented by the nutty flavors of almond and Bursa's chestnuts and the sweetness of pomegranate seeds, presented a symphony of tastes that was both unique and unforgettable.
Zennup1844 not only serves food; it delivers an extraordinary dining experience that reflects the rich tapestry of cultures it represents. The attention to detail in every dish, the fusion of flavors, and the impeccable service make it a must-visit for anyone looking to immerse themselves in a culinary adventure. Despite the crowds, the staff at Zennup1844 ensures that every guest feels valued, proving that high-quality food and excellent service can go hand in hand.
In conclusion, Zennup1844 is more than just a restaurant; it's a culinary destination that offers an unforgettable voyage through the tastes and aromas of the Middle East and beyond. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking an exceptional dining experience that captivates both the palate...
