TLDR: Good food, good staff, great views. Be mindful of expensive drinking water.
This review is based on a visit in August 2022 I will Review this in 3 parts: 1. The atmosphere The food. 3.the service
1.The Atmosphere is great. there are lots of little interesting quirks here. This is the only spot I could find that was open to enjoy Taylor Bay. The area was recommended to me by another tourist. all the beach access in the area seemed to be private access. this seems to be the only area that was accessible to the general population.
The restaurant itself is cool. There is a pool Centre Stage on the main floor lounge chairs and a poolside bar. The main floor restaurant area had lots of tables and a few couches with a coffee table for a relaxed atmosphere. All the main floor seating is outdoors/open concept. However, on the day I was there, a huge rainstorm hit. The rain could not possibly have fallen any harder. rain was even blowing sideways. However, the management and staff were prepared. There is a clear plastic sheet that kept virtually all of the spray out. I was sitting at a table and was not significantly wet. I actually loved being able to experience the storm like that while still being able to eat and drink outside. The staff even brought my breakfast over under cover so it would stay warm and rain-free.
Upstairs offered even more seating options and also includes the only indoor seating with yet the third bar. On the day i was there, This area was closed. I wonder if this space is only open during busy season or for special occasions/reservations.
The food came quickly and was warm. I ordered the French Toast (with blueberries and nutella). My partner ordered Eggs benedict on an english muffin with tomatoes( I'm not sure what it was called on the menu). My Meal was just enough for me, being a vegetarian and not having a big appetite partner said his meal was really filling and it was more than he was expecting. The downside of this was that the water was overpriced. I had still water(Evian brand 1L bottle i believe). He had Sparkling 1L bottle. I was offered two options for still water, bottle or something else(i forget what word was used. maybe a glass or tap. Water cooler sized bottles were visible). In Hindsight, I should have chosen the second option for water. Maybe it would have been cheaper.
The service was adequate. I felt valued as a customer, the host was very polite and pleasant. In fact all of the staff we encountered were pleasant. The staff were rock stars with dealing with the rain and took care of the water quickly to keep everyone safe from tripping. There was casual singing to make the rain go away and a general joking nature among the staff that trickled over with the guests.
In summary, to have a unique dining experience along with a sweet pool to lounge/swim in with an incredible view, this could be the place for you.
I would come here again and would recommend it to...
Read moreWe have been to Turks several times, this was our WORST experience by far. I hope you consider this review when deciding where to spend your hard earned money. We had a table for 7, eager to try their steaks they are known for. Service started out fine for the first 20 minutes until our waitress disappeared and to our surprise went home without letting us know.
Once the food came out, the steaks came out ICE cold and undercooked. No big deal, we looked to send them back to be recooked. We waited, and waited and waited and no service ever came. By this time the rest of the table was done eating and we no longer wanted the steak. We sent them back and asked they be removed from the bill like any customer would.
After 20 more minutes, the waiter asked me to come to the kitchen to meet the manager/I assume owner (who refused to come my table). Immediately she was on the attack. She tried to show me pictures of what a steak is supposed to look like, raised her voice several times and refused to let me speak and explain what happened. When I told her we simply wanted our steaks recooked(because they were raw and cold) but service was unreachable she told me “that’s not my problem, you should have waved someone down.” I explained that our waitress apparently went home for the day without letting us know. I also explained that service is absolutely her problem as an owner, she had no interest in my opinion.
She then got angrier. Her next comment to my wife and I, “I don’t care what you say, you are paying. You are ENTITLED, I deal with this all the time. I am calling the cops.”
Taken aback at the rudest encounter I’ve ever experienced at a restaurant I let her call the cops. In the meantime, groups and groups and more groups of people wanting to dine left as they saw as this lady treated her customers. Little did they know this eas the best decision they could have made.
The cops came and he was embarrassed for having to deal with this. We felt terrible taking his time away from important matters. Please please spend your money somewhere else. There are GORGEOUS places on the water to eat, even if the food is good here the service was so bad that the restaurant should be shut down. I feel bad for other tourists who were conned by...
Read moreLas Brisas is a prime example of the worst customer service experience Turks and Caicos (TCI) has to offer. The views were pretty and the food was good, and about as overpriced as other touristy places on TCI. The staff ruined it for us.
They aren't just incompetent; they also appear not to care at all. Personally, I have a lot of patience for incompetent staff if they are friendly and trying hard even if they aren't doing a good job. At Las Brisas however, the staff were incompetent and super rude (other than Rachel who was friendly and helpful.) We asked about a boat tour and staff said it was booked at 5 so we couldn't do the standard 2 hour tour. They said we could do a 1-hour tour but at no discount. Then we tried to ask about renting a kayak and a paddle board but the staff member we were talking to just turned and walked away after we said no for the boat.
The staff were all basically just milling around the bar doing nothing so I had to walk up to another one and ask about paddle boards. He said "that's her job" and pointed to another who said "no it's not" and started walking away. I followed her a couple feet so she finally opened a drawer and pulled out the rental forms. Half way through filling them out, they told us they didn't have any paddle boards. During this whole interaction it was really hard to get anyone to make eye contact without walking away as soon as they saw us looking for help.
The place was pretty empty and they were all just hanging out chatting with no real work to do. They were not just rude and inconsiderate; they showed a total disrespect of my time and I regret wasting the time to make the trek over. I get it if paddle boards aren't available but what I cannot tolerate is extremely rude, dismissive staff, who are actively avoiding contact with customers. Or maybe they were just on a paid work break for 30 minutes? I wonder who pays for that and why nobody was there to hold...
