We need to start off by disclosing that this is not much of a dinner, its an experience. Dining with Chef Enzo and his staff was the best choice we made on the island. More often than not we were all wondering how Chef Enzo had not recieved Michelin star ratings for his sushi. Prior to arrival we were made awware of a mutual connection between our local connection and Chef Enzo. Boy did it prove worthy.
Walk in, ambiance. Fountains, beautiful natural scenery, augmented by the ocean breeze. We sat at the middle table(party of 8) and felt like kings/queens of Turks. We are acquainted with luxury every step of the way. Our waitress Arlene provided us with tip top service while working with the Chef to give us an incredible evening.
Dining. Our first course plates were taken away as our first bite was provided by Chef Enzo… on the house.
First bite. A suishi salmon like you have never tasted before. Jack daniels salmon with a blueberry purré and caviar with sesame seeds to garnish. Right here after this first bite I knew we were in for something special.
Appetizers. We ordered edemame and two 3 rolls for appetizer… enter Chef Enzo: because of our mutual connection Chef Enzo took care of us especially. On top of our delicious sushi that we ORDERED, Enzo brought us 4 more exclusive rolls that are not listed on the menu. The first roll being called “el Chapo” and another asian fusion. Let me explain to you that I am not a sushi person. Never have I before gone out and ordered sushi for the delicacy of the meal, but after Dining with Chef Enzo, I fully understand and will be ordering sushi again. This food was breath taking. Incredible taste with top tier presentation. Magnificent.
Entrees. If you are still with me reading I thank you as the meal is not quite over just yet. My entree, the star Mahi Mahi served in a skillet with a sort of reduction glaze white sauce made me realize that this is the way fish was meant to be prepared. When jesus taught man how to fish to eat for a lifetime, i believe this man directly taught Chef Enzo how to prepare a white fish. This fish was out of this world. Topped with a sort of stuffing and a few appealing vegetables, the fish sat in the reduction while still warm from the hot skillet and bathed in flavor. The texture of the fish was phenomenal, melting away after each bite and yearning for more. I can confidently say that my family shared similar experiences with their individual meals. We ordered the tuna salad, mahi mahi, fok soup, cauliflower, two entree fried rice.

Read moreI am grateful for being able to make it to Sui Ren in my travels. The Shore club property is beautifully landscaped and the restaurant ambience stunning. It’s definitely a dress up special occasion place. I found the service to be very fast indeed. Our greeters at the gate were fun and cute and wished us for our anniversary. I had made a request for a seat by the fountains and that was given to us as well, which started the evening on a great note.
There was attention to detail in every aspect of the evening, from the table decor to the china and everything in between. The drinks were outstanding with innovative and different flavors. Glasses were a good size but drinks were not that strong. Most alcoholic drinks were $20 and up. The menu was diverse, although the theme is Japanese Peruvian fusion, there was also Sri Lankan, Thai and Indonesian dishes as well. Everything we ordered was tasteful, well seasoned , bursting with flavor and truly tasty. Some of it as a cook myself, I would never be able to recreate. I highly recommend the Lamb shank, the Duck and Ceviche’s. Perfection. The service was warm, friendly and professional by Samie who was both beautiful and graceful. She brought us a complimentary glass of champagne to celebrate our occasion and we were very touched by the lovely gesture. Its the little things that go a long way in making people feel special and for that they get high marks. There is definitely sticker shock in the prices and while I am sure special ingredients are sourced, I wish the highly priced entrees could be heartier( perhaps bulk up the very tasty supporting items! Like my pumpkin puree ) as many people in my party left hungry and I am sure no chef wants to hear that. It is my opinion that an additional side is best ordered with the entree or If you are to leave satiated then one has to do three courses at Sui Ren with no sharing to be satisfied. A wonderful evening all around and I cannot wait to visit again. Highly recommend making a reservation during your visit to TCI for a memorable evening and It was a definite highlight in our...
Read moreSecond time coming here this trip but definitely our last. Our group of 5 came last night for sushi and had the displeasure of being served by a very unprofessional server named Pauline. She absolutely ruined our last night out on the island.
I ordered a roll of the chef special (eel and avocado) and she brought out to me what looked like a California roll (crab & shrimp). When I asked her if the order was right she said yes and to try it before I question it. Now its not my first time ordering eel, we eat Sushi frequently so I thought her answer to be strange. However I did try it and it was most certainly crab.
Another fantastic server (Joseph) came over and said he believed it was california and went to speak to the chef. Turns out that it was indeed crab and the chef was out of eel so the just sent me a crab roll. Why an establishment thought it was okay to just substitute when it wasn't available is beyond me.
This restaurant is quite upscale for the island but they had a 2 for $20 roll special. When I asked Pauline why she gave me crab and insisted it was eel she looked at me and said ‘what do you want me to do about it?’ I requested the roll to be removed from our bill because it’s not what I ordered and she quite literally WALKED AWAY verbally 'tsking' and saying ‘it’s only $10’.
We were all shocked by her behaviour including my friends who live on the island. I was incredibly polite about this our entire interaction so I am not sure what caused her to be so rude but in a service based industry this response is not okay
Bringing out something I absolutely did not order (what if I had an allergy?) then telling me I was wrong in what I thought it was (instead of saying she would check with the kitchen), then making us feel stupid for asking for it to be removed from our bill was the worst service we’ve had on the island. Pauline you should be ashamed.
Absolutely rude and unprofessional considering the wonderful ambience. We will definitely NOT be returning and neither will our friends who...
