For a high-end resort, I very disappointed, not worth the price. |We came for our 25th wedding anniversary and wanted to splurge by staying a high-end resort. With the high cost, we were expecting such better treatment and very disappointed.||I am sorry for the length of the review but feel the details here matter.||The grounds were very nice and well cared for with workers trimming and pruning every day. The pools were nice and clean. The breakfast was great and the food at the restaurants for dinner was very good. Housekeeping staff kept the room clean. There were several nice people working at the resort.||It started with our check in, no info on the resort was provided, no welcome packet with a map of the property, nothing about the resort and what it had to offer, we were given our keys walked to our room and left to figure it out on our own. |The room was nice enough but clearly needed a refresh, rust, cracked tiles, in need of a coat of pain, dirty rugs and the water pressure in the shower was very poor. Our garden view room was a giant hedge, no view of anything. ||There were some very nice people on staff and I wish I had done a better job of remembering their names so I could give them a much deserved shout out. ||When we dined at the breakfast every morning, had dinner at both Sui Ren and the Almond Tree. The food was great. the servers were OK, often we had to search for the servers when we needed something, but as soon as the bill came, they were right there and then proceeded to hover over you to get their tip. ||Service by the adult pool, where we spent most of our time, was sporadic at best. As a result, when people had food delivered to the pool and left their plates, we would be attacked by seagulls as they sat there up to an hour + sometimes. Some of the wait staff that did finally come by the pool lingered, hovering over us standing right next to our chairs, 30+ minutes at one point, just waiting even though we said we were all set. One occasion, one server continued to tell us about his private venture and was trying to get us to be a financial backer. We did nothing to encourage this and just wanted to have him leave us alone. ||Our time at the spa was an experience all on its own. I will start by saying the massage therapists were FANTASIC. The receptionist on the other hand was so rude it astounded me. The whole time she interacted with us she kept her air Pods in her ears. Told us our reservation was canceled and made was completely annoyed that she had to "re-book" it. She was very curt with both my wife and I making us very uncomfortable to the point we almost left. When we got back from the massage instead of welcoming us back asking how our massage was, she was laying back on the couch in the lounge area behind the desk and just seemed even more annoyed with us that she had to get up and help us (air Pods in ears again). As she offered no information on what we were to do next, when I asked about the Champagne we were supposed to get at the completion of our couples massage, she very rudely said, don't worry I will get it for you when I finish your bill. Once she did finish our bill she went out back, came out and shoved the small bottle of Moet in our hands (un-opened no glasses) and walked away.||While they have the non-motorized sporting, Kayaks, paddle boards etc, there is not much to do on property other than hang by the pool/beach. Corn hole, Outdoor chess board, shuffleboard, anything would have been nice. There is NOTHING to do at night. No evening entertainment, bars close early. You eat dinner and go to bed. ||When it came to checkout, we got a fairly rude call the night before from the front, no good evening or pleasantries just "What time are you leaving and do you need a taxi"? I felt as though we were being rushed to checkout.||We came to understand that the resort is closing for some time starting this August for a, much needed, refresh. I don't know if due to that most of the staff felt checked out and not interested in the guests. I think the first thing they need to refresh is the training for the staff. ||I have been to several resorts throughout the Caribbean, and this was one of the most disappointing overall experiences. I have received far better treatment and gotten so much more for so...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed 5 nights at The Shore Club and were unimpressed. The property itself is beautiful but it’s very obvious this isn’t a 5-star resort. The spa was a huge letdown. If this shines any light on the atmosphere your spa staff will also be your waitstaff at dinner. The staff throughout aren’t quick to assist with anything. We were treated as if we were a burden to them. Several examples of this: We went by the excursion desk to book a snorkel outing. The first day they gave us an information brochure and sent us on our way. The second day, after we apparently interrupted the two young gentleman at the desk as they were filling out leases together, they tried to send us on our way again. My husband finally said, “No we know what we want to book we just need to arrange the details”, we were told the lady that handled that would call us. She never did. We went down the 3rd day, Sunday, and they were closed. And you have to arrange any activities 24hrs in advance. Needless to say, we didn’t get to snorkel. The same was for the information on one of the villas that is for sale. We asked at several different points during our stay if someone would please just provide the contact person for more information. The last 45min before our departure transport we finally managed to speak with Erika, who was actually lovely and knowledgeable. It was just shocking the lack of effort that went into the actual guest experience. You have to seek out whatever you need. You have to book and arrange all the reservations yourself, get your towels from a stand yourself, and many more little things that just show it’s definitely not a true 5-star. The floral arrangements are faux in many areas which I found odd given the overall theme of the property. Even as you enter, the floral on the desk are filthy and faux. We rented a jet ski the first full day we were there and my sunglasses accidentally got tossed off. I mentioned to at least half a dozen staff what had happened and if they had anywhere I could purchase sunglasses. The gift shop had a total of 3 pairs. One pink child’s pair, a mens Rayban pair, and a ladies pair that were way to large for my face. With a price tag of $282 you’d hope the pair you were buying would at least fit. Not one person had any clue of how to help us. I went the rest of Saturday without sunglasses, all day Sunday (Because things are closed there) and finally we were able to grab transportation into town Monday to buy a pair for the duration of our trip. If you were at a Ritz or a Four Seasons there would have been at minimum a $5 pair of shades on your bed by turndown. Another odd experience we had was one night while eating in the Almondtree. We were intrigued that during our dinner a fruit kept falling from the tree all around where we sat. Long story short our server explained that they don’t use the almonds at the resort but that in the islands they will eat the fruit. My husband picked up two off of the ground and the server said “Crack them with a rock to see the actual almond inside”. She then takes the fruit, goes off to the kitchen, returns a while later only to tell us “Yes, I cracked those and ate the almond inside”. It was just strange and rude. The entire point of us picking them up was that we thought it would be neat to see the inside and see the actual almond. There were honesty so many just moments of pure disappointment about this resort. The couple next to us at the Adult Pool we were chatting with for some time over drinks got their check at the same time as us. The wife looked at our charge and exclaimed “No, you are ordering wrong. Just tell the bartender that you’re cool and that means that you pay them a bigger tip and they don’t charge you for all your drinks”. The property is beautiful, and the restaurants are good, but if you’re looking for an over the top, goes out of their way staff and overall experience…This is NOT the...
Read moreHumiliating Experience at The Shore Club, Turks and Caicos
My family and I recently visited The Shore Club in Turks and Caicos during our stay at The Sands, a sister resort. Initially, our experience was pleasant, and we were encouraged by staff at The Sands to explore The Shore Club's restaurants, beach, and facilities as guests of their resort. We took the shuttle to the Shore Club and enjoyed lunch and the pool. We didn’t visit the beach due to high winds, but everything seemed fine, and we even had the pleasure of meeting one of the managers, Mr. Hendrickson. He was welcoming, and our interest in the property grew after a fantastic tour led by Alayah, who was professional and knowledgeable. The resort was stunning—immaculate grounds, serene atmosphere, and beautifully appointed units. As real estate investors with holdings in St. Martin and Barbados, we were genuinely interested in exploring the possibility of ownership at The Shore Club.
However, the nightmare began the following day when we decided to visit again to try the beach and another restaurant. We took the shuttle, excited to continue our exploration. Upon arriving at the beach, we were told by the staff that we could not be served. When we inquired further, we were informed that a new policy had been implemented. We were confused, especially since the day before, we had been welcomed and served without issue. We asked when the policy had changed and were told it had changed the day before.
This left us feeling stunned and deeply uncomfortable, so we decided to approach the reception to speak with a manager about the sudden and unexplained policy change. We were directed to Ms. Olivia, who, despite our attempts, was conspicuously unavailable to meet with us. To be fair, we were told she was in a 'meeting'. Our experience worsened when we requested a shuttle back to The Sands and were made to wait for half an hour. We eventually left The Shore Club feeling humiliated and dejected.
The most disheartening part of this experience was the overwhelming sense that the policy change was directly related to our presence at the resort. It’s worth mentioning that we were the only people of color on the property during both visits. I’ll leave it to you to judge what kind of message this sends about The Shore Club as it relates to inclusivity, diversity, discrimination, and hospitality at The Shore Club.
This was, without a doubt, one of the most degrading and humiliating experiences we’ve ever had, especially given the stark contrast in how we were treated on our second visit. Even our children, ages 12 and 9, were emotionally impacted by the rejection and isolation. We would never recommend The Shore Club to anyone, especially after the distressing events we encountered.
Follow up to the Owner's response:
Thank you for your prompt reply to our feedback. We would like to address a few misrepresentations in your response:
The VP of Operations did contact us. We had several exchanges on WhatsApp and, ultimately, had an hour-long Zoom call with him on Wednesday, January 15th.
During our first visit, we did indeed visit the pools and beach (see attached picture) and no 'situation' was addressed at that time.
Contrary to what your response indicated, we were not invited back to The Shore Club. Instead, we were offered consideration towards a future visit to The Sands, which we respectfully declined.
We want to emphasize that these inaccuracies in your follow-up reply by the 'Owner' only compounded the humiliation and distress we felt during our visit. This misrepresentation further adds insult to injury and reinforces our deep concerns about the inclusivity, diversity, and overall hospitality of The Shore Club.
Thank you again for addressing this matter, and we hope that future guests do not have to endure a...
