Tried WE Market Cafe on a Sunday Afternoon.
First, beautiful cafe even while it was pouring rain. The smell of Asian cuisine, lofi style music, an overcast, rain water falling down the stairs, and lush foliage around was a vibe I didn’t expect.
Sadly, we weren’t greeted when we walked. We sat ourselves at a table while the kitchen staff looked confused — seemed to be no wait staff around at the moment. No menus or water for at least 15 minutes after seating ourselves.
The server who did end up noticing we were there wasn’t the best and lacked menu insight. My husband inquired about how the “drunken chicken” was prepared for the fried rice and we were met with a very condescending response that didn’t fulfill the question being asked. To his defense he may have been a bartender doing a server’s job since he was the only one there outside of the cooks. That would suck if that’s a norm.
The pork Bao Buns are very tasty, spend the extra $$ for 3 instead of 2 — thank me later.
My husband enjoyed his fried rice, but felt the portions on the chicken throughout were scanty.
I had the tutti frutti (seafood pasta) — prepared great, but portion was very small considering other locations plating the same dish.
I never have an issue paying for what I like but truly didn’t feel satisfied after eating and was still hungry. For $140 for an appetizer, two entrees, and water I wish I felt like it was worth it.
I would definitely come back for the buns and looking forward to trying...
Read moreThis is another bad review of their Christmas 10-course dinner for $140. Similar to other reviewers’ feedback, we were totally disappointed and utterly appalled that they would serve food that bad and call it a tasting menu. The best way I can describe the food: if you go to a dinner buffet at a 3-star hotel in the US, take 10 small plates and place the food from the buffet stations on those plates - then you get your 10-course tasting menu at WE Grill + Wok. Our waitress was pretty bad too (didn’t know what was going on, wasn’t trying to be helpful when we had questions, at times pretty rude). But this is not a reflection of the other staff at restaurant - the manager and a few other servers were super nice (the one star in the review is for them … otherwise I really wish I could give a 0 star). Maybe the regular menu at this restaurant is not bad but we will not go back given our terrible experience on Christmas. I hope the restaurant owner/chef will never do this kind of tasting menu again just for the sake of...
Read moreThe food was freshly prepared and delicious. The servers were attentive. The location is a bit out of the way. We got there too late to watch the sunset over the ocean from the top deck but I’m sure it’s a great view. We were confused by the $10 charge for a bottle of still water. When the server asked if we wanted water when we sat down, we assumed it would be a free glass of water like you get at most restaurants. The menu also said that water is “always free”. It was a large bottle and we took the rest home. Otherwise, we highly recommend this restaurant. Remember that it’s common in TCI for a gratuity to be automatically added to your bill. We forgot this, so our server received an additional 20% tip. She did a great job, so we just chalked it up to a...
