Where to start about Orchid Cafe?. The food has been fantastic and seemed to get better with each visit lately. The staff is always attentive and very responsive. The manager has genuine concern about your experience, and constantly seeks feedback to improve the service. I haven't had everything on the menu but unlike many restaurants in the city, the items are actually available and prepared very well. The mushroom soup, any breakfast menu item, the variety of teas and juices, are all done to your satisfaction and well proportioned. Orchid is one of few places in Gulu where you can go and actually have a SANDWICH. I look forward to having their pizza as I have already crowned some other restaurant in town the pizza king of Gulu beforehand. Local food is also available, but when you have a taste for something different I highly recommend Orchid Cafe with their reasonable prices and well selected variety. The only dent in the armor of Orchid is the condiments. You find that sweet pink slime that is called ketsup at most of the restaurants in Gulu City. If you want the taste of real Heinz Ketsup then preplan and bring your own. Im not even sure that pink substance is even made...

My boyfriend and I ate here everyday whilst we was in Gulu, one of few good spots in the area. Menu had a wide selection, I recommend the Hawaiian Burger, sweet & sour chicken and the vanilla ice cream. The staff were lovely, only negative comment I would say is the wait time for food, you will be waiting long but I would say it’s worth it for the tasty food you receive. Been here a few times. Despite a few items not being available on the menu the food I ordered was nice. I would maybe suggest that they either reduce the menu for what they can stock or make sure they stock what they need. The cocktail juice was nice. And the medium size pizza was a good size and they are generous on the toppings.
