Olives Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Kampala

It was a lovely restaurant. For a birthday party of 10 plus people, this was the perfect venue. They did their best to make sure that we had a table that could fit us all. And they didn't have any rules apart from the corkage for the cake of which they "dressed" the cake for us with "candles" and provided plates. The staff was doing their best but with a busy weekend, things can get out of hand especially with the orders. One thing I can tell you, is to READ the menu; and I mean all the details given about the food. Otherwise you might end up getting something you missed out on reading about, like a pizza with chilli. But it was a great evening, service was slow but the food was great. I hope in the future, they can allocate a waitress/ waiter for big tables so that we don't have to call anyone we see walk past. Would I go back again, definitely and I would recommend this place over and over again; it's the first place I have been to a place which is kid-friendly and serious about it. You don't have to worry about your kids while they play, there are toys and swings and a nice section for them. There is the bar section downstairs and it was full which means it's nice. Let me be honest this is the second time am reviewing this place. The service is superb, the food is very nice. The cocktails are on point, the vibe is very low though. The crowd is very boring. I would recommend this place for a romantic date 💓, when you want to have a good time with your partner and hold a conversation with them. It would also be good for a group date. The ambiance is wow complemented by trees 🌳. The corner near the bar is really wow 👏 kudos to the interior designer. They have space if you have to do some work on your computer 🖥, charging area with minor distractions. I had fish fingers with chips plus pork with chips. The meal was sumptuous. Also I think the signature cocktails contain your favorite beers and other ingredients 😁. The band on a Friday evening isn't as good as the ones I have been to but it complements the evening. Driven by this place many of times and it’s always stood out as a place I’ve wanted to try. I was really looking forward to this place. I struggled to convince my wife but we finally agreed. Ordered through Jumia. I got lasagna, she got burger and fries. The lasagna was very wet, it came in a container with a puddle of water. In addition, it just wasn’t very good at all. I eat a lot of lasagna and this one was pretty much the worst we’d ever had. I asked my wife about the burger and she pretty much had the same response, it was terrible and she couldn’t finish it. I proceeded to eat her fries which were very undercooked, they still had some potato crunch in the middle. I just couldn’t believe how bad the food was as the place looks so nice from the outside and reviews seem to be good. If it was just one dish that was bad we might have been willing to try again but 3/3 were terrible. Sorry Olives but you have a permanent loss of us...
