Entrecote Café de Paris (The Souk at Qaryat Al Beri) — Restaurant in Abu Dhabi

1 star but if I can give 0 stars I would, at first when I walked in I stated my friends name bc the reservation was under her name, we booked for 5 people and due to COVID regulations we had to be seated separately BUT the staff was very unorganized and not communicative which led them to seat us all in one table which we did not mind because we wanted to sit by each other. The problem was they seated us in a 4 person table that was arranged for ONLY 4 and we were 5... it was sooooo uncomfortable because the table fitted only 4 so we were very cramped. They brought us the salad and the fries portion was too little compared to usual portion (keep in mind im a regular customer). The meat tasted very weird to an extent that we could not finish it, we ordered medium and got medium rare. The waiters seemed very odd and uninterested that night. There was a table next to us which had a couple sat on it and they were told to move tables because we had to have only 4 people and we were 5 yet they brought the food and did not mention that we had to move tables so basically they removed the couple for no reason :). When we made the reservation we stated that we wanted a birthday cake for the birthday girl that we invited to dinner but instead we got the check with no cake and then we were just wanting to leave bc so far the experience and the food was HORRIBLE! but they insisted on bringing the cake and we refused bc they already gave us the check without the dessert. We (who invited the birthday girl) were very embarrassed bc of the horrible and very unprofessional...

Bof, bof, what to say...Very, very expensive for what it is. Don't bother to chose the expensive (very) kind of meat (only four choices!) because the cut (less than 1 cm thick) and the cooking (mostly well done) will ruin the essence of the meat. The sauce doesn't really taste anything special except salt, so I would prefer to have different choices of cooking on the menu (simply grilled meat with pepper and parsil butter would do). Now, for the service, it's like being in a cafeteria where every dishes are pushed to make you eat fast. Nobody is explaining what you eat or drink (I was not even proposed to taste my wine before getting served). The ambiance is far from what I was expecting (music?) and I was the only European in the restaurant. It is absolutely not cosy or pleasant as I could read on other comments. All tables are so close to each others that you don't have privacy. I don't recommend this place for good steak or for "French cooking". Go to Conrad or Four Seasons instead, for same price (950AED for two!) you'll have far better meat, cooking...

Disappointing!! I had high hopes for this steakhouse, especially considering it specializes in steaks, but unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to the expectations. The steak was bland and lacked the rich flavor I was anticipating from a restaurant that focuses on steaks. It was honestly underwhelming.

Additionally, the experience was marred by an issue with the QR code payment system at the table. If you know there's a problem with the payment process, don’t put your guests in an awkward position by following them around, especially in such an unprofessional manner. I had two separate incidents where I was approached by staff and a security guard, claiming they hadn’t received my payment, even though my bank had already sent me a deduction message and I showed them twice! It felt embarrassing and unnecessary.

If you're going to use QR code payments, make sure the system works properly or just remove it entirely. No guest wants to be harassed...
